Excellent recoil pad!,

"I have a 12 gauge Rem 11-87 with synthetic stock I use for both hunting and sporting clays. The standard stock pad would leave brusing after 5+ boxes of shooting. This pad fit perfectly and really makes a dfference in applied shoulder force. I can shoot all day and no complaints from my shoulder. Great product!"

"Very disappointed in the fit of this recoil pad. For a true remington product, the fit of this pad on a brand new 870 wood stock was horrible. Not even close! Sent it back for a refund. Expected a lot more from Remington!"

Does not fit an 870 express properly,

"Bought the wood version for my Remington 870 Express 12Ga and as the review below me states it is:
1) too long for the stock
2) does not sit flush against the stock, there is about a 2mm gap.
The reason for #2 is that the screws for the S3 pad go into the pad deeper than the standard pad. Since the screws are the same length as the standard pad, this requires you to either 1) drill & tap the stock to allow the screws go in deeper or 2) cut the screws down.
I tried drilling out the screw holes but without a tap it was neigh impossible to get them to go in all the way. Even if you accomplished this task, the pad is still slightly longer than the stock. If you really want the S3 pad (which performs great) considering getting the Sureshot stock + forend that comes with the S3 builtin."

"Fit my 870 Express synthetic stock pretty well. Not sure how many times it can be removed/reinstalled before the plastic threads in the stock are stripped out, but why would that matter? It does damp recoil pretty well, but after 100 rounds of Win AA Xtra Lite I still bruise up a little on my shoulder. Definitely better than the stock Rem rubber pad, but not as pain-free as shooting an auto. The price is very competitive as it should be since the product is made for Remington in China. Not the USA."

"i like to customize all the guns i buy and the first thing i do besides the triggers is the recoil pads . the r3 is a must have item on my gun to help tame felt recoil.my 11-87 used to be a 3 or 4 box range day with 3 inch slugs , now i can double that , because the gun does not beat me to death, ( sometimes i think about taking it off to save money on ammo)"

"I purchased this recoil pad for a Remington 870 Marine Magnum. Unfortunately, it is intended to fit the post-1999 models, and the design is completely wrong for my 1994 model, so I had to return it. I called Remington customer service, and confirmed that they do not make this recoil pad in a model to fit the older synthetic stocks."

"I received the pad, installed it and have fired the gun shooting trap at least 750 rds in three weekends. The 1100 Remington Competition 12 ga. recoiled pretty mildly before the installation, but the addition of the "supercell" recoil pad has improved the recoil substantially. I just wish they made this for other brands of shotguns.The only drawback is that it does not fit the stock as well as I would like."

"I have used Limbsaver for a while now but I fell that this is just as good as a Limbsaver. I have put one of these pads on a 870 and a 1100. The fit is not perfect that is the reason for the 4 stars not 5. I would recommend them to anybody that wants a good butt pad."

"Simple to install & fits flush against the stock. High quality material; I set it down a few times with the pad on cement and it didn't scratch. I was worried that it would because of the softness of the material, but it weathered the pavement just fine. The only downside, if you could call it a downside, is that, as previously stated in other reviews, if you don't hold the stock tight to your shoulder, the compression and rapid expansion of the pad will cause the stock to 'bounce' a bit. Not used to it at first, my cheek was getting a bit sore. But once I adjusted and held the shotgun just a little tighter into my shoulder, it worked great. It really does reduce felt recoil, but if you're not careful, it transfers the recoil right into your cheek. Still, I wouldn't even consider switching out to the old pad. All in all a top choice, just gotta hold the gun a bit tighter. Well worth the money."
