We've obtained a limited supply of Viper Air Rifle combos that are in "like-new" quality, and you can shoot with confidence knowing they're backed by a one-year factory warranty.
It shoots as sweet as it looks with contrasting soft rubber twin cheek pads and double-checkered soft rubber inserts in the grip and forestock of the tough, all-weather synthetic stock. There is also a ventilated rubber recoil pad. The spring piston break-barrel Viper sends .177-caliber PBA Raptor ammo out of the full-jacketed rifled steel bull barrel at 1,200 fps. A mil-dot reticle is etched into the glass of the 3-9x40mm illuminated reticle scope, and the scope itself sits on a single-piece solid mount. Automatic cocking safety. Manual trigger safety. Two-stage adjustable trigger. Scope may vary from image shown.

Rifle is accurate; difficult to shoot accurately,November 16, 2008
By CHUCKB177from Kentucky
"I am disappointed with this product as purchased. I am able to shoot tight groups (holes touching at 30 ft shooting from a rifle rest). But, if a rearrange my shooting position, I'll shoot another tight group that can be 1-2 inches away. If I shoot without the rifle rest, the shots are very erratic. I believe there are two reasons for poor performance.
1) The scope that came with my combo is a BSA GE39X40IR which (according to the BSA website) has a fixed parallax setting of 100 yds!!! So at closer ranges, the crosshairs move around if I slightly move my eye. This is the wrong scope for an air rifle. For the ranges at which an air rifle is shot, a scope needs to have an adjustable parallax for shorter ranges or at least a fixed parallax of about 10 yds.
2) When the trigger releases the spring mechanism, the rifle will "jump". It is not like the recoil of a traditional firearm, which is due to the acceleration of the bullet down the barrel. This "jump" occurs when the spring is released and before the pellet is moving. If I hold the rifle very tightly against a rest, the groups are much tighter. If I grip the rifle loosely when shooting from a rest, it will shoot very erratically. I have tried to shoot in a standing, unsupported position but the rifle is so heavy and shoots so erratically, I don't even try anymore.
I bought the rifle to harvest some of the "herd" of squirrels that live near my house which decimate my garden, fruit trees, and nut trees. I am not impressed with the stopping power on a squirrel. I have injured some which got away (and I HATE doing that). I am not going to shoot at another squirrel until I am confident I can make a humane kill with a head shot. I am going to replace the scope with an air rifle scope and practice to determine if I can develop a technique that will allow consistent & accurate shots."

Dissappointed,September 20, 2008

"I bought this combo with the hopes that it would perform like a new rifle and scope. I am impressed with the quality of the rifle it feels good and seems to be built very well. I am not at all impressed with the scope. When viewing the target its was impossible to get it to focus. I could focus the reticle with the focus ring but the target was never completely in focus. Also, when shooting from a bench I could not get this rifle to group at 25 yds. I don't know if it was the scope or rifle, but 2-3 shots would be in a dime size group and then there would be a wild shot 3 inches off. I wish the rifle would have had iron sights so I could shoot it with out a scope and narrow down the problem.
It was a great deal for this combo, but unfortunately it wasn't worth it."
