Great Product,October 26, 2009
By MrCoolBreezefrom Vancover, WA
"The Oregon 400t is a great GPS. I have owned it a little less than a year and it has been awesome. I was going to get the 60csx but im glad i got this one. I have had no major problems. Everyone seems to say that they have problems with the sreen display but it doesn't seem to bother me. I would definetyly recommend this product to a friend."

"I think that it is a great product. It still has a few minor things that I do not really like, but they do not hender the function of the GPS. I personally do not like when scrolling across the screen you drop a pin for a point. This product is still new to me and I have not given it a full and thorough run. I am replacing an extrex legend and the satelite fix time is very fast on the oregon. Nice detailed maps with the topo."

Great Unit, but....,October 7, 2009
By Foxtrapfrom Charleston, Maine
"I've had this unit for a little over a year now, and I can say it's a very nice unit. Very accurate, and does everything but make the coffee. However: there are a few things you'll want to know. First, buy the battery factory too. It says it will go 18 hours. That's pushing it quite a bit. Figure on new batteries for every full day afield. If you're in the williwags, you can't go home just to change batteries. Bring spares. Secondly, one of the reasons I went with this unit is that they said I could get detailed, high-resolution maps. You can, but only for west of the Big Muddy. And Garmin has shown no intrest in providing them for the eastern half of the USA. Another thing this unit needs is a provision to plug the unit into the power outlet on an ATV. And it needs a better cursor-the one on it is way too big, and obscures too much of the map. (It's an elongated triangle rather than a pointer)and isn't as responsive as it could be. Same with the compass part-slow. Ok: other than that, I love the touch screen-another reason I went with this one. Very easy to use; almost no learning curve. I gave this a "yes" reccommendation, but only with the reservations above."

Garmin Oregon 400T,August 24, 2009
By dropawayesfrom Burlington, Iowa
"I totallylove this GPS. It is everything I wanted and more. I love the easy to use touch screen and all the different waypoint icons. I use it for everything from fishing spots to treestand locale. I use it to geo-cache, and more. what an excellent piece of equipment to use with the 3-D map showing the elevation difference between hills....and the topo map. It also has a place for a micro SD card....awesome. this is the best piece of equipment in my hunting arsenal. I can now look at my deer sign in a whole and locate funnels and pinch points a lot quicker than my previous GPS that did not have the pzazz as the Oregon 400T. thanks GARMIN!!!!"

Never get lost again.,August 24, 2009
By benhuntnfrom Waldorf, MD
"I have been using Garmin products for 15 yrs and this is a great new GPS. I really like the touch screen. It locks on fast and is accurate even under the densest cover. I tried side by side with my Garmin 76CS and the Oregon was 25' and the 76CS was 287'. It is very user friendly and you can quickly find your way around the screens. It is a little light in bright daylight but I am still able to see the screen just fine. I did have two comments future users should know. 1) the oregon will not communicate with Delorme 7.0. It is a driver issue and something to do with mass storage? That fix is coming. 2) The SD card that the oregon takes is the micor SD. It doesn't take the standard size. I thought I would look at trail camera pics on my garmin but it won't take my chip. Those were two minor issues for me. It is a great navigation device."

Outstanding!,August 19, 2009
By alohastevefrom Oahu
"I purchased the Oregon 400t with the topographical maps pre-loaded and the additional sim card with city-navigator. Living in Hawai'i, it was very important to have maps of the islands and not just the mainland. I have been very happy with my purchase. The Oregon 400t is small enough to be very portable, but still rugged enough that I don't worry about it getting crushed in an outside pocket of my pack. The 3" screen makes details easy to see, and the interface is incredibly simple and intuitive. It has worked well for road and trail navigation, always loads and acquires satellites quickly, and in my experience has been very accurate. Great piece of gear!"

Very Impressive,August 7, 2009
By Goosereaper1from Los Banos, California
"I recently purchased a 400t along with the city nav. kit and automotive base kit. I have played with quit a few gps units over the years, and I must say that I am very impressed with this little marvel. I'm especially impressed with the ability to use SD cards to store the maps. Although, if you want to plot a route on your computer, it would be a good idea to buy the software, and then load that to an SD card when you are ready. The accuracy is far and above that of my old Garmin Rhino 110, it's not even funny. I use this unit to measure a field from time to time at work, and nine times out of ten the readings are dead-on. And the best thing about the city nav. function is that there is no nagging voice telling you where the next turn is. Only a beep to give you a heads-up."

Garmin 400t,May 6, 2009
By CFR09from Washington State
"The Garmin Oregon 400t is my second GPS. It is so much easier to use and it is so easy to figure out. There is a lot of information available on the unit.
The screen, just like the screen of my camera, is hard to see in bright sunlight. In fact you have to shade it with your hand or hat to see it. I am not sure why this has to be so because the screen on a sonar/gps unit I have on my boat is easy to see in sunlight."

Great purchase,March 10, 2009
By JP0208from Anchorage AK
"I took the GPS out this weekend for a hiking/camping trip and it worked great. Even in the cold of Alaska it worked properly. The ony thing I didnt like is that the display can be hard to read in direct sunlight. But it is defiantly worth the money and both guys that were with me will be buying one shortly."

Oregon 400T,February 28, 2009
By remintnfrom Hamburg.PA.
"This GPS is perfect for geocacheing. Rather than downloadign maps...Its in there. Rather than loading the cords. into your gps and downloading the description into your palm pilot....you just download it into the 400. I up graded from a Garmin GPS12 that I bought in the 1990's and a notebook full of cache sites. This is wonderfull! The price is high but if you add up all the other acessories for a full day of cacheing, you broke even and saved time."

Garmin Oregon 400t,November 18, 2008
By ednotaxfrom Arizona
"I received my Garmin Oregon 400t a week before my deer hunt. The pre loaded topo maps were accurate and very helpful in scouting and locating areas to hunt. The unit was a great hunting tool in the heavily wooded area I hunted. It always provided me with accurate information on where I had been and what direction I needed to travel to get back to vehicles, hunting locations, water holes, canyons and just about everything I needed to know. It is a great tool, and I would highly recommend it to any outdoors enthusiast. I did not loose a waypoint, or a direction even in the bottoms of canyons or in the woods. I was able to use it effectivly in a short period of time."

Great Handheld,November 16, 2008
By Eskimoedfrom Fairbanks, Alaska
"My first handheld. I've seen others owned by friends and am positive this is much better than any other handheld that I know of. You can chose between preloaded land, fresh, & seawater versions or not. And you can buy an upgrade to give you instant road directions anywhere in most of North America including Alaska,Hawaii, & Canada."

Excellent Device,October 20, 2008
By Oneshotwonderfrom Afton, MN
"Contrary to a few other reviews this is an excellent GPS. Its the first I owned and compared to my friends its an excellent device. I must confess I read previous reviews prior to writing this one and I did extensive research prior to purchasing. If you want a basic device the trex or others will do. You pay for what you get and with this one you are getting.
Its apparent you must dive into it to understand all of its features. For example, it has backlight which is adjustable depending on how you want to manage your battery life. It also has a waypoint manager so you can set different icons for an ATV, Truck, Treestand, or water hole. Yes it actually has unique icons for each of these and many more. You can wirelessily share waypoints amongst other Oregon users. The touch screen is pricess for drag and drop over topo to better understand where you want to go... did I mention how fast it is:)"

Nice Handheld Unit,September 8, 2008
By Rock331from Southern CT, USA
"Nice unit when on foot. Touch screen is real handy; there's no need to fumble with buttons. The screen could be a little brighter when outside on bright days and the unit/software is a little buggy as seems to be with all new Garmin units (they are releasing software to hopefully address these issues). Great if you are into Geocaching...many features to support it. I bought this to replace my old Garmin eTrex Vista and GPS V."
