Eight inch group at 70 feet,November 1, 2009
By Uvjhamilfrom Mapleton, UT
"If an 8 inch group with bench rest at 70 feet is satisfactory this gun should work just fine. I am returning it."

"This is the first pellet rifle I've bought in 20 years. I bought the refurbished gun. It came professionally packed with all the necessary materials and parts intact. Prior to ordering the gun I had read all relevent reviews and was expecting some minor problems but I must say that I am extremely pleased with this rifle. I had no problems with scope mounting and sighting. While the scope isnt the most advanced, it's certainly adequate for the price range. I'm using "Cabellas Hollow Point .177 7.9 Grain" premium lead ammo. The first shot out of the box was wide right about a foot. Believe it or not 5 shots later I had the scope dialed in and was pounding center target downrange at 20 yards. I have not experienced any drift on the scope and 100 shots later Im still hitting whatever I aim at. If power is what your looking for then look no farther. This rifle is not a kiddie toy and does serious damage. I had backboarded my target with 2 3/4" pices of plywood with a cardboard buffer. My shots went straight through both pieces like butter at 30 yards. I had to switch to a 1/2" polymer plastic bacboard to keep the pellets out of the tree rest. This rifle does have a recoil and does jump when shot. It has a nice crack and a loud spring pop. In summary I think this gun was worth every penny. I'm not changing anything because I dont need to. I pity the blue jays and squirrels that raid my feeder each year. They don't stand a chance."

pretty good,September 24, 2008

"i like the power and penetration. it shoots very well with the gamo rocket pellets. one thing that i didn't like was the scope. every time i resighted it, the pellets would gradually shoot lower. i took the scope off and am using it that way for now. it shoots very well at 35-40 yards,(thats the farthest i've shot with it, though, so it may be even better!)but overall, i'm satisfied with it."

scope is terrible,September 21, 2008
By AWedelfrom Baldwin City, KS
"The gun itself seems to be fine (as long as you don't use PBA Ammo, too inconsistent), but the included scope broke in under 20 shots! Both a lense and the crosshairs broke when I shot a PBA round!"

pellet gun,September 10, 2008

"The Gamo Big Cat is a solid weapon that takes some getting use to in the target shooting arena. I am staying away from the raptor pellets as they are consistantly inconsistant! I could not shoot a compact small pattern. The Gamo pellets that are lead based with the embedded bb work the best and shoot tight patterns at 50 feet. The gun is as noisy as a 22 short round and has significant muzzle jump so I use a different style of trigger pull to compensate for the jump. The gun is sturdy and well made. I like it!"
