Poor for uneven ground,November 15, 2009

"I tried this blind in the hollows of Tennessee, an area with a 30 to 45 degree slope and intermittent relatively level spots. The chair rocks back and forth every time you move. Slits do not allow downward view. Useless for this type of hunting. This blind will only work on firm level ground. For this type of hunting, a low dome blind, allowing the hunter to sit on the ground is needed. Im still looking.
You cannot stand up in order to make a shot. I had 2 nice bucks walk within 20 yards of me, but I could only see their heads because of ground slope. If I could have stood up, I could have filled my tag.
This blind is well constructed, but poorly thought out."

"This blind is "OK", I have used it about 3 days in a row and already the fabric on the chair where the screws that hold it in place ripped. But it doesn't affect the use, I managed to watch deer walk pretty close to me and never notice me at all while I video taped them.
Good blind for the money, could use better material on the chair to preven the ripping."

"It´s a good hide, very comfortable and large for one person. It has a lot of windows, altough I miss a rear window and more long tissue at the bottom, in order to adapt and close this part of the hide to the irregularities of the terrain. It has some improvable points, but taking into account the price, it is the best hide I have."

"This is a very useful shelter for wild photography, that is what I did acquire it for, in this sense I would liked it had had its front window in a little lower position, and even that it would be open from down to top instead of top to down, in that way the flap would keep me out of be seen from outside. Also it would be fine if the side windows were positioned in a little lower position since in its actual situation it's rather difficult see any that be in the ground. For the rest I am happy with this system."

"I bought this for photography use and it's very good for that. It seems like it would be a bit small for someone with a bow or rifle.
The blind is very easy and intuitive to set up, which is good considering the instructions are poorly written, and seem to reference parts that don't even exist. There are many view ports that can be opened and closed as needed, and the chair is comfortable and even has a beverage holder! It is relatively light and folds up easily, though I would be hesitant to want to take this on a long hike or into the backcountry as it is still a bit bulky even when folded.
I'm 6' 4" and fit in there comfortably (seated) with a tripod and long-lens camera. It doesn't seem like it would be a useful hunting blind, for it would be hard to move around much with a rifle or bow in there as well - particularly if I wanted to shift to one of the rear or side-facing ports. Maybe a smaller person would find it easier to use for hunting.
The material is not all that tough, and may not be that great in a rainstorm, but for the price I'd say it's a good deal for photographers, and so-so for hunters."

"I am not a small person (6'3" 240lbs) and found the chair pretty uncomfortable. I would rather sit on a bucket. It might be better for a smaller occupant. The blind itself was pretty neat in design. Would be better if there were screens over the openings making it more difficult to see in."

"Not stable on uneven ground. The stakes(?) might as well be straight pins. I'm gonna do a little modification on my own, such as 3/8" rebar stakes and removable 1/4"x 6"x6" Plexiglas squares on the legs of the chair. I liked the wind protection when I zipped up the flaps on the windward side. The concept is good, but I would have been willing to pay more for a more water resistant material."

"Worked like a charm. Sat up in a sandy sage brush area and was comfortable. I was gun hunting and not much room for a bow so go bigger for that, but this was an affordable product that was light enough to move several times with ease. Was a little noisy setting up so go early or go slow and it will do the job as intended. It felt good being out of a frigid howling wind on some days. No rain encountered so can't go there."

"The idea is good. Not for all types of hunting. Probably great for turkeys. I wanted to use it also for quick & easy set up for a retired guy in some hunting and in photo shots. Still can use it for that. But, quality of material and construction has some doubts. Many strained seams and you can see through many defects in fabric/plastic. Didn't seem up to Ameristep's quality of construction. Chair and structure seem sound, but fabric could be better. I've just used it for 2 weeks or so and think it has some use in photography and just observing nature with a lightweight easy to carry product. I would be happy to pay more if the fabric were of better quality."

"My husband bought us each one to use and I finally got to try it out last weekend when I went turkey hunting. I was relaxed, comfortable and yet completely hidden from view while I called the turkey's in. It was so much fun watching all the wildlife and remaining undetected the whole time! "this blind sets up quick and goes down quick. the one thing that bothers me is the noisy fabric everytime u move it has the squeak to it allthou it didnt seem to bother turkeys at all . i found that it payed not to stake it down if u didnt have to i think it all depends on the outside conditions.the small windows do seem to be alittle high yes but in all they worked allright the zippers were noisy thou.i shot my two gobblers last weekend out of it and they didnt even know i was there!will be interested to see how it works comes deer season too!over all it was a good investment !"
