Bog Pod after 3 seasons of use,March 2, 2010
By horsecopfrom Portland, Oregon
"I waited to write this until I had some time to use this product. I have used the Bog Pod on several hunts and it works great for all situations from sitting to standing. when I carry the Tripod I have the legs wrapped so that I can employ it as a mono pod if game shows up quickly. I have the legs set up so that its the correct heigth if I get out of a vehicle and am walking to where I want to hunt and spot game. I use it also in the mono position for a light walking stick. I dont put a lot of pressure on the stick but it does help get my footing in many situations. The head swivels easily and doesnt fall off like another brand I had. Works well with the 300 Win mag I use and will take the recoil without tiping"

camo bog pod,January 13, 2010
By Nilgiahunter
"I recived my new bog pod yesterday. I took them out of the box set it up and one of the legs fell right off the tri pod. The threds were bad. I need them for a hunt so i repared the leg by putting a hose clamp. So i will use them once and try to return them."

Close enough to perfect,December 15, 2009
By TomFLfrom Palm City, FL
"I can offer a good comparison having recently switched from a stoney point monopod to this.
Here's the good: These things are incredibly ROCK steady. It's like shooting at the range out of a lead sled; they are that good. For that alone they get 5 stars despite a few minor setbacks. They pack down well and will fit in the side pouch of my camelbak. They are not the lightest but I carry them 2-3 miles in a morning hunt and forget they are there, so that says something. In fact, I originally passed these over in Cabela's store as I thought they would be too heavy and chose the monopod. In the field, the extra weight is worth it.
Now here's where I think they can be improved:
First, they don't "fling" open like you see the big-game guys doing in Africa. They require an extra second or two to open and spread the legs. That can be a big deterrent to some.
I don't see them being a "split second shot" option. You'd be better with a monopod for that.
Second, since they are hollow aluminum, they can be noisy. Learn to carry them in one hand with a finger between the legs and you're golden. Don't hit them on your stock or barrel either.
I hunt open roads bordered by thick cover. To set up on an edge and wait out animals is a great way to hunt my areas. These things give me mobility and the confidence to take any shot I'm comfortable with as they are so rock steady.
5 stars despite minor setbacks"

Solid,October 10, 2009
By NBK2from Lodi, CA
"One word..........SOLID. They are well made and very adjustable. I took two animals with them so far this season and they were just what i needed. I highly recomend them for still hunters or if you are an outfitter and want a set of sticks for your hunters to shoot off. Money well spent."

Price but Worth It,September 26, 2009
By ChrisfromNJfrom NW New Jersey
"Nice easy to use tripod, well worth the money. The free floating head makes follow-up shots on moving game easier. I have had a number of tripods including Stoney Point and Moss back and this one is by far the best. I had no problem with noise as a previous reviewer but id does weigh more then some of the others out there."

bog gear tripod,September 24, 2009
By bummer1from Michigan
"Did not actually have to shoot off of these but were very nice item to have along. Went elk hunting in Utah and tripod made a great walking stick as well as a nice rest for binoculars. Had rifle on them more than once but elk was too small for shot. Love the cradle on top, rifle could not slide side to side and pivoting was smooth. Fairly quick set up and held up 300 win mag nicely."

BOG-POD Camo Legged Devil,September 16, 2009
By CGLPLSfrom Bradford, PA
"I just used my BOG-POG on an antelope hunt in New Mexico. After a careful stalk, a nice buck and 14 does were moving toward myself, my guide and another hunter in our group. With the help of my guide, we quickly set the BOG-POD for a sitting position shot. When the antelope came into view at a about 150 yards, they were quartering toward us. I had to follow the buck in the scope for more than 50 yards before he stopped for a broadside shot. THe swivel on the BOG-POD head worked very well and allowed me to stay on the buck and make a good shot. I don't know if the camo finish on the BOG-POD helped but I can tell you the antelope didn't see us. Great product for antelope hunting. I also shot very well from the BOG-POD while practicing at long range."

Camo legged devil,May 27, 2009
By whatevernameyouwantfrom PA
"Don't mess with any other pods. This is the best I've used including the wood ones the PH's use in Africa. I've used Stony Point Shooting colapsible sticks, and the Expedition telescoping pods. It's on Par with the Harris bi-pods fro stability. The tripod type latches and swiveling haead are great."

Bog Pod Comments,April 8, 2009
By DRCCfrom Michigan resident Hunting Calagry
"In regard to the bog-pod camo legged devil. I purchased the bog-pod to use in a hunting situation. Upon receipt of the pod I was amazed to discover how noisy it was. Even with the clamps closed the pod had a very loud rattle. This in my opinion was not a piece of equipment I wanted in the woods with me while hunting elk. Needless to say this was very disappointing. Bottom line! I would not use this in a hunting situation"
