Manual S/S Meat Mixer,

"Bought the mixer for making sausage. The mixer worked great for about 30 seconds until the handle started slipping on the brass axle insert. Had to clamp a pair of vice grips on the brass axle to finish. Mixed 12 to 13 lbs of meat at a time (total of 50 lbs) and it mixed great, although a little liquid leakage.
The handle slipping issue needs to be fixed (since it is a common issue in these reviews) and it needs o-ring seals on the axles to prevent liquid leakage. Adding water/liquid is a must when mixing meat for sausage if you plan to run through a stuffer. CABELA'S, PLEASE ASK YOUR MANUFACTURER TO FIX THE HANDLE THING. I used a couple of #4 S/S shoulder screws to prevent the handle from slipping.
I would recommend to others, but be aware of the above issues."

"we purchased the meat mixer due to alot of our hunting clients wish to process their own wildlife. we have used the mixer several times without a problem of any kind. it hold about 20# of raw meat to be mixed. that is an ideal size for our operation. those who didn't before are now processing mainly due to the mixer and grinders we provide.

"Great product. Works very well. I made 2 batches of 13lb. each. It will hold a lot more. It will help to crank in both directions to really mix the meat well. No problem with crank coming off. Easy to hold down. It is as easy to clean as my meat slicer or meat grinder. The larger the sink, the better for cleaning."

Great Grinder,

"This is a great grinder. We use it to grind deer and elk into both hamburger and sausage and had no problems at all. I was very amazed at how easy it was! We also used it to make the pepper sticks, because the jerky blaster was not efficient, but the grinder made it a breeze. I'm glad we bought the grinder - it's made our experience a real treasure and great time spent with family, which will turn into an annual fall event. Thanks Cabelas!! "This is a good product for the money. It's actually pretty heavy, the steel was thicker than I thought it would be. It's also a very sturdy unit. It mixes well as long as you add some reverse cranks in every now and again. I also considered the larger 50lb mixer but with that product you MUST mix at least 30 or 40 pounds (it won't work with less) so I chose this one.
Cleaning this mixer takes some work to make sure you get the meat off the blades and out of the side corners.
The benefits to having this mixes is that your hands don't heat up the meat causing the fat to smear. That is critical if you are dry curing sausages."

"I bought the stainless steel meat mixer as a present for my dad and he is very unhappy with it and said that it doesn't even mix the meat. Also it states that you can mix forward or backwards and if you go backwards the handle will fall off."

"I used this to mix 18 pounds of venison bratwurst and 15 pounds of sticks. I used a jerky Canon to stuff the sticks and a sausage stuffer to stuff the brats. The mixer did a very satisfactory job when I had at least 10# of meat in it. When I used it for 7# of a meat stick mix it didn't do as well; it's just not enough meat in the unit. Of course for small amounts like that hand mixing is fine. When I had 12-18# or meat in it worked great! I'll use this a few times a year and just make sure I'm mixing enough at a time. I'd recomend this to anyone getting into making their own sausage and meat sticks."
