"I used the knife on 2 elk and 1 antelope this year and the blade held it's edge on all of them. Grip didn't slip. Not sure about the attached string/rope as it just collected blood. The sheath wasn't really user friendly."

"Very nice knife. One of the sharpest out of the box I've seen. Handle fits very nicely. It is very light weight as well. Handle is a harder plastic, not rubbery. There is a texture over the handle though so that it grips nicely. Made in USA. Shealth is ok. I'd buy another."

"I'm actually on my second Gerber Gator. I gave away my first one to a good friend for his birthday because he liked it so much. We worked together on saltwater, so the small amount of rust that had developed on the blade wasn't going to bother him any.
Anyways, I'm not sure about these special handle editions (the normal Gator knife is much less $$$), but my knife is the most ergonomic, easily controlled knife I own. A comfortable knife makes for a safer knife. Built tough, there are no little cavities for moisture to hide. It cleans easy, so you don't have to worry about it getting filthy. Both of my knives have been smooth blades with gut hooks.
Love this knife."

"Excellent knife. Very comforatable in the hand and good workmanship on the handle and blade. Texture on the handle prevents slipping when handle is wet/bloody when field dressing. I have the drop point model. Would have given it a 5 ... but I have some custom made knives that are better. For the price range though ... I'd give it a 5."

"I have another Gerber Gator that I love, but it's wood handles were less than ideal. I purchased this knife because I already knew I liked the blade size and steel, but the light weight and rugged Bell and Carlson handles really appealed to me.
I was happy with the knife right out of the package. It's sheath is light and durable and holds the blade snuggly. The blade out of the box was razor sharp, easily shaving hair. The handles were exactly what I wanted, fitting nicely in my hand and providing excellent control.
I took this Gerber Gator white tail hunting with me this year in West Virginia. I did my part, and the Gerber Gator did its. I finished my field work quickly, with surgical precision. The blade and the handle cleaned up quickly in the field (which had been my biggest complaint regarding the checkered wood grips).
The best part? Even after finishing up that deer, after a quick wash in the kitchen sink, this knife would still shave the hair off of my arm!
Highly Recomended."

"If you have big hands like me and find it hard to find a good knife that fits, try this out. The Bell and Carlson handles fit good in the hands with good controll of the blade when working on skinning or gutting animals. Thie size is good and the weight is perfect for carring on your side.
