"i bought two of these. the first one couldn't be programmed at all and i returned it. the second one could be programmed but only worked off and on and i had to use the key to open it. this is unpredictable and in an emergency could prove useless. i returned the second one also and gave up on this model. they also have only an e-mail address for customer service and no phone number to call. i would not recommend this at all. incidentally, cabela"s had no problem with returning it."

"This safe is what I expected it to be... and that's a good thing. Its sturdy, functions well, and is relatively easy to use. The keypad code set-up instructions aren't perfectly clear, but it only took a couple of tries to get it working right. The code does require a *xxxx# sequence each time. Also, as noted elsewhere in the reviews, this thing is big and heavy. It would take a large stout drawer to hold it. I've got mine on the floor under a dresser."

"This safe does exactly what I needed. The only issue I have with it is that it sometimes get sluggish in locking. Seems to be improving as it wears in, but not all the way there yet. Still, it does the job well. Keeps the gun away from prying little fingers."

"We received this product and first of all could not find the "red button" to activate the capability to put our code in. The red button was under the glued down lining! Then within ten minutes the mechanism to open and close the top of the drawer safe broke. We sent this product back the same day we received it. We would not recommend this product."

"The keypad allows for quick and easy access. There is plenty of room for my pistol, two clips and 12-gauge rounds for my shotgun. "The finish of the safe is very nice. The safe is too large to fit in a standard sized drawer, so unless you have huge drawers it will not fit and will need to be mounted somewhere else. The carpet on the inside of the safe was not cut to the correct length and it was glued on crooked, so it had to be trimmed to allow the lock to engage when shut again. The lock does not disengage correctly when the code is entered. The lock will release for a moment, but a tug is needed to open the box. With the provided keys the top flings open with the spring assist. Over all the product does what it is supposed to, it keeps my handgun away from my kids."

"A good, secure option for hand guns and small personal items. With several age 7 and below children in the house, this gives good piece of mind for their safety while allowing for easy access by adults. Only complaint is that it requires a pretty good size area for storage (closet, under a bed). The drawer would have to be a pretty big drawer!"

"I'm a law enforcemenet officer, and this safe works great for locking up my duty weapon when I get home from work. It also provides quick access when I need to run out to a call in the middle of the night. I get home, lock it up, and I know it is safe, and out of the hands of unauthorized adults, or children. I used to use the Mossberg InstaAcccess safe but it quit working, and Mossberg quit caring about customer service. This safe is also much more affordable than other small safe with the same level of protection. The price is right, the quality is good, and Cabelas has the customer service."

"The safe was returned. after i set my own code to open the safe , i would have to enter my code then push the star key then the pound key. the way the manual explained it all you would have to do is enter your code, that would not work. i tried to reprogram it several times still would not work without pushing star,pound first."
