"Bought a competitor's handheld GPS unit about six years ago. I should have been warned when it arrived with a DVD to teach me to use it. It's been a nice paperweight since. This TomTom is everything Star Trek, Star Wars, whatever promises for the future. Now. After ten minutes fiddling with it out of the box, it flawlessly directed me from a commercial airport near San Diego, not my town, to an oddball restaurant in the old part of town. I kept laughing at every turn as the nice British woman gave me flawless directions. My personal navigator, AKA my wife, has competition. Where we live is quite rural. Brains must, of course, not be turned off in allowing the device to sort the best route or when it makes quirky decisions. If it does either, just hit reset until you know it's back on track. Do not take another trip or look at another map until you've bought a TomTom. This is getting with the 21st century and not having to have a 13 year old teach you the technology."

"Several options on the market. But none more simple to use than the Tom Tom. I bought it for my wife and kids to use on weekend getaways. They told me how nice it was to never worrry about direction. Just type in your destination and GO. I bought the economy version. At this time see no need for anything else. "Excellent. Much better than I ever expected. Having no problems going anywhere I want my first winter in Florida. The larger screen is great and the glare on the screen is not a problem. I will not let my wife leave the house without it set. She will now go shopping/sight seeing with her friends without any worries. Very user friendly. "Works great on the interstates,at 75mph you can hear directions at 75% volume. Easy to use and to update.Another story when you get to downtown of a big city,we live in Seattle and this unit was not able to keep up with turns,it was about 45 seconds late on every turn.Would not recommend this unit if you are planning on using it in urban area."
