"Overall a good hat, I live in coastal NC. The combo of high winds and driving rains is a test of any fowl-weather gear. The only improvements I suggest are to make it a little stiffer and offer other darker camo patterns."

"I bought this hat as somewhat of a lark for the other half. She has always had a certain place in her heart for the maritimes and when I seen this was a gore-tex product I thought why not! She loved the hat when she recieved it.
Time forewards to today. It is the second day of Moose season here in Ontario and we awoke to snow which has amounted to about 4 inches of wet slushy snow and driving wind. As everyone bundles up to take a stand, she pulls out her sou'wester and gave everyone a chuckle. She was left at the one stand just as a nasty blow came through dousing everyone in wet snow, slush and rain drops combined with leaves from the trees. The only one not complaining about freezing water dripping down their long johns from their collars was the one with the sou'wester. Tonight I have to order 3 more - would be better for us if it came in a solid Blaze orange as it is a little tough to keep a hat band on it.Definitely works as it was designed to off shore in the maritimes. You will not complain about this hat when the weather turns snarly."

"The hat is softer than I expected; makes it more comfortable, but not sure how it will hold up in a rainstorm. Should be an excellent hunting/fishing hat - just waiting for a rainstorm!"
