"I used this coat for the first time this year on the Kanektok River, in AK. the vent pockets were a plus, I didn't use all the pockets that were available, this year however was mostly dry so I didn't know how well these handle in severe conditions.They kept the wind out. kept me warm, and "dry" till I really get to test them out, worth your money!!!"

"Being on a very tight budget, I did a lot of research before deciding to buy this jacket. Clearly this jacket is above and beyond the other jackets in this price range. None others come close. The features found on this jacket are usually found on jackets costing hundreds more. I have just spent a week in the woods of northern Ontario doing surveys and this jacket kept me dry from the rain and warm from the winds. I found a use for almost every pocket (I was carrying Lots of gear and field guides, weighing about 15-20 pounds, and the pocket design made it easy to carry, very balanced). The hood is well designed, as is almost every part of this jacket. Only issue I had was when it got a little hot, the neoprene cuffs were a little uncomfortable, but then, I don't intend to wear this jacket in the summer much. Can't wait to try it out during deer season. I selected the Mossy Oak treestand camo and from the fact that my fellow surveyors kept asking where I was, I'd say it's pretty good!"

"I used this parka on a cold rainy hunt in Maine and cool weather hunting in NJ. The jacket performs great in all conditions. Definitely kept me dry while stalking/waiting. The neoprene wrist/hand sleeves are both good & bad. They keep your hands and arms warm and dry but do end up getting in the way a lot."

"In my opinion, the extendable cuff idea needs to be thought out a little better. I like having them, but they're annoying when I'm not using them. It would be better if they could be clipped back inside the sleeve somehow. Otherwise, great product. This is probably the best parka I will buy for the next 10 years. I ordered one size larger than normal to have plenty of room for layering and because I have long arms, and I'm glad I did; it fits well. It does seem a little heavy, but it doesn't bother me when I'm wearing it."

"I am on a mission to look for the perfect GoreTex parka. This jacket is heavy and I can't understand why. Inside, there is a white lining (inside the netting) and I think this adds to the weight. I have no idea what it is for. I bought a size one (size) larger and find it fits well. I intend to wear fleece if it gets cold. The outside fabric is soft and feels a lot more malleable then other GoreTex jackets I recently tried on. I have not worn it into the brush so I can't comment on how resisitant to snags it is. The major disappointment is the weight. I have some old (10 years) GoreTex parkas (North Face and Head) which are much lighter even with their fleece zip-in liners. Maybe there is a technological reason for the weight."

"The guidewear rain parka is all I would expect from a top of the line piece of rain wear. The under arm zippers have proved to be very useful in keeping me cool during my walk in and climbing stage of my bow hunts. The numerous pockets provide space for literally anything you want to take along. One small improvement, providing a way to roll up and stow the hood when not used, would be useful. "I am a faithful Cabela's customer. I bought this parka to stand hunt in the northeast and northern Canada. The inner lining is extremely loud when you turn your head and scares animals when turning to look in either direction. If you use the coat I'd advise that you take the inner lining out as the shell is great but the inner lining serves little purpose as a hunting garmet. Additionally, the zipper handle snapped off on the first zero degree day."
