"Smoker worked well. Pork loin tasted great ! Cabelas might want to look at using a different shipping carrier. Smoker had a dent in the top and the metal bracket that divides the two front doors was broken. Customer service was wonderful in that they subtracted an addition percentage off of the purchase."

"I have used the smoker 2x so far both times it performed great on its lowest setting it hangs right at 200 degrees it wont go any lower than that hence the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.1st time out I smoked a pork shoulder 3 racks of ribs & 2 pork loins all came out tender with a perfect smoke ring.Second time out I smoked 4 whole chickens ,best chicken we ever ate,again perfect smoke ring.Great item no problems with shipping.The only problem putting it together is they included a match holder to light the propane I cant see anyone on the planet using this instead of a long nose lighter but decided to put it on the unit anyway and it broke in my hand, piece of junk,otherwise no problem putting it together.Great product."

"The burner is not good. It is a cheap burner and you can not adjust the oxygen and propane mixture. It will go out if you try to maintain a temperature of 225 F. Do not leave it over night. Trust me.........The shelves are to small for the racks. They will fall when you try to put meat in or take meat out of the cooker. Do not purchase this smoker>>>>>>> I wish I had not purchased this smoker>>>>>>> be Ware"

Thanksgiving - almost a smoker disaster,December 9, 2008

"I purchased the smoker to cook my Thanksgiving Turkey. Before I even put the Turkey in the unit, one of the door hinges came off (I think it was welded and the weld had broken). The lighter was all hooked up properly, but when you pushed the button, it didn't work, and the button wouldn't come back out.
I was able to keep the door shut even with the broken hinge, and was able to light it with a lighter, but for $300 I was expecting higher quality manufacturing. My husband was able to pop-rivet the hinges so they don't fall off again, and I'm still lighting it with a lighter, so it's working for us. I refused to take the whole thing apart to return it - I spent way too much time putting it together. We've purchased a lot of products from Cabela's over the years, and this is the first time we've ever been disappointed."

"I have a smoker that is more like an oven! I'am on my second smoker with the same problem, 350 deg. with a huge yellow flame!!! Cabelas took back my first one and I'am sure they will take this one but I want a working smoker and it is over a one hour drive each time."

"Purchased and assembled the smoker with little or no problems. The instructions call for a blue flame with little yellow. I got a massive yellow flame that shot the temp up to 350 degrees within a minute. Called for help, was instructed to have a propane tank less than 3/4 full. Emptied tank to half, still get yellow flame. Help!"

"I was able to assemble the smoker without any problem. When I went to use it I discovered I had to turn the flame up too high otherwise the wind (10 to 15 mph) would blow out the flame. Whe the flame so high I got more smoke and hotter smoke than I wanted. I am going to have to build a shield around the base to keep out the wind. I think the basic design (vertical aspect) of the smoker is good. However I would replace the gas with an electrical element attached to a large reostat so as to adjust the amount and temperature of the smoke. Then if the wind comes up and the flame goes out you don't have the danger of an explosion due to the accumulation of gas."

"Cabela's went the full distance to make the bent smoker right. They even registered my comments about the packing situation. The company that produces and packs the smokers sure needs to pack them better for shipment so they dont get bent.
Now, for the good part. I seasoned the smoker as the directions called for, then used it. I used some mesquite, yeah I know a Texas thang, but I love it. I smoked a brisket, 8 chicken leg quarters and two packages of sausage. All of the meat turned out absolutely gorgeous with a deep pink ring and the flavor is tremendous.
