    best camera I've tried, November 17, 2009
By GBjwright from Green Bay, WI

"This was my last chance trying out a trail cam as I went through a number of cheaper cameras in the past ($100ish). This camera is well worth the money, I read a lot of reviews and this thing lives up to the billing. Fast trigger time, very sensitive trigger as well. Got a pic of a squirrel in mid air jumping in from of camera. The pics a really nice too, very clear. It does go to night vision quickly but that is easy to put up with. I left the camera on a tree from early September to mid November and still had battery life left after taking hundreds of pictures. I will be getting more of these for next years hunt."

moultrie 5.0 outfitter camera with IR flash, November 1, 2009
    By taggart from grandview, tx

"I recieved this camera for christmas and had high hopes for it unfortunatly that wasn't the case. It only lasted me one season in texas where it dosent get that rough weather wise. First, in long periods of rain, water would get inside the camera and blur up the pictures. Second, the display screen completely stopped working. Third, the sd card slot is hard to get to. Fourth, the battery door is junk, and the batteries barely fit in it. Fifth, this thing is huge it weighs about 5 to 10 pounds with the batteries in it. Sixth, the trigger speed is the slowest I have ever seen on a camera, it can't get a clear picture of an animal walking by. I've left it in the field just for the pictures because the date, time, and moon phase is messed up due to the non working display screen, and in a three week period it would get about 10 pictures of nothing but the corns gone? The only good thing is the battery life which definatly dosen't make up for the rest of the stuff wrong with this camera. I will never get a moultrie camera again."

GREAT CAMERA FOR THE MONEY, November 1, 2009
By kavon from ROYAL OAK, MD

"I PURCHASED THIS CAMERA ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO. I READ ALL THE REVEIWS ON CAMERAS AND DECIDED ON THIS ONE. THE ONLY REAL COMPLAINT IS THE SMALL OPENING FOR THE CARD AND THE PLASTIC STRAP RINGS ON THE CAMERA. THEY BROKE OFF THE SECOND DAY AND I EPOXYED THEM BACK ON. THIS CAMERA HAS TAKEN OVER 2,000 PICTURES OF DEER AND TURKEY SINCE AUGUST,2009. IT IS LEFT ON FEEDERS CONTINUALLY."

    Moultrie 4.0 and 5.0, October 31, 2009
    By ifish4food from Topeka, IN

"Between me, and two of my friends, we own 5 moultrie trail camera's. Three are 4.0 megapixel, and two are 5.0 megapixel. All are infrared. The first 5.0 lasted around a year, when the mode button stopped working, therefore the unit is worthless. The second 5.0 lasted about 2 months, then the display screen went completely blank. Of the three 4.0 camera's, one is working fine, the second one's display screen is messed up, and the last one's screen is blank. I tried contacting Moultrie via phone and e-mail with no results. I won't buy another Moultrie."

Great camera for about 2 months of use, October 31, 2009
    By dpkhunters from WV

"Bought camera last year put it in the woods worked great after we got a 7 year old to use his little fingers to put SD card in cause I couldn't get mine in there. Had it up from Sept 30 till Jan. 1 trying to find the right spot to hunt on trails worked good then. Put in house till this season brought it out of closet put in tree again it takes day time photos but not a single picture of anything at night just a black screen with the time date stamp on it. Would not recommend this camera I also have a 4.0 megapixel flash model and it works great after 3 years."

Not happy with product after 1 year, October 21, 2009
    By Spgen from Marinette, WI

"I have been using this camera for just over a year now. Last season it worked well and was happy with the picture quality and overall preformance. Although the SD card is hard to access. This season the camera was only taking IR pictures even during day light, now it switched and is only taking day pictures (no IR) and they are total black. Contacted Moultrie and they said that because it is out of warrenty "that to have it serviced would end up costing more than a new camera and that I should just buy a new camera". This is not a cheap camera and I feel it should last more than a season. I will be buying a new camera, but it won't be a Moultrie product. Disapointed that a product with the Cabela's name on it is of poor quality."

    Moultrie 5.0 Outfitter, October 20, 2009
    By rameyer1000 from Sun Prairie,WI

"I have bought two cameras and so far I am satisfied. The SD card is difficult to get at.I carry a small needlenose pliers in my hunting coat and that problem is solved. The picture quality is good. The daytime pics have great color. The night time infrared are good as long as the deer is standing still. If the deer is moving when the camera goes off,the image is a little blurry.I bought my first camera three weeks ago and the battery life is at 95%.The camera comes with a nylon strap so you can mount it to a tree. The ends have plastic pieces that snap together. There junk!I broke one while tightening it to a tree.Off to the hardware store I went and bought a short ratchet strap. It works well.I pound two nails in the tree and let the bottom of the camera rest on the nails. The camera is user friendly and the settings are easy to program.Overall its worth the price."

Moultrie is Awesome, October 8, 2009
    By LongDistance from Canada

"I just received my trail cam last week and couldn't wait to set it up by one of my stands. I set this camera out on a Saturday and came by to check things out three days later and was trilled to see just what this camera will capture. All pics were clear and the camera was easy to setup. Camera does not have a viewer but take your digital camera with you and a spare SD card and your all set. For the money, you won't find a better camera."

    Great Camera, October 6, 2009
    By db12345 from Michigan

"This is a great camera! I have been using it to scout for whitetailed deer this year and have had great success with it. The only bad side, if I had to point one out, is that the shutter speed is a little slow and so I tend to miss the deer if they are moving at a decent pace. I bought a second SD card from Cabelas and the tree mount for the camera and now, after using it, I want to buy a second one. Great day and night photos and easy to use."

    Moultrie 5.0, October 5, 2009
By LHS61 from Eastern Shore, MD

"Just got the Moultrie 5.0 and hung it inside the woods 3 days ago. Took 46 pics. Day pics had good clear color, nights were clear also. Had a couple of whiteouts. No blanks. I do the same as most and bring a digital camera with me and check the card in the field. The nite picks got a little blurry when I zoomed in to count points but the deer were about 30-35 ft out so maybe a closer shot will give a better zoom in. It does look like they could have done a better job of locating the card but I'd give that up for quality pics. I use a key to push the card to spring out and then pull it out with the teeth of the key, it seemed to work at least the first time anyway. I'll keep posting reviews as I check the pics. I gave it 4 stars for easy set up and the laser worked good, it helped to get it set at the right level and area. I'll probably still need to make some adjustments as I go along but so far its done well."

Very Very Cheap, September 29, 2009
    By bowmichigan from michigan

"Last year I bought a cheap Moultrie 4Mpx and it has done alright, this year I thought I'd go up and get one with an infrared flash. This camera is a joke, very very cheaply made the battery door is junk and the SD card is nearly impossible to get to. The 4Mpx I bought last year was way better quality and worked better than this one. If you want an infrared flash don't get this one."

    Defective Product, September 29, 2009
    By TexasHunter180 from Forestburg,TX

"It seems having a Cabelas store close to where I live is a curse not a blessing. I purchased the I50 from the bargain cave (mistake) about 6 months ago and set it out near my feeder about a month ago. I checked on it two weeks after I set it out and only had two days of pics with the display reading "battery low". In addition to the batteries going dead extremely fast, only half of the display screen works now. I gave the camera the benefit of the doubt and threw another set of batteries in it... One week later I checked it again, and once again I had only two days worth of pics and "battery low" again... I don't know the cause of the problem because I'm in the middle of a 56 minute wait time with moultrie, but it may be the display screen that's draining the batteries. My buddies have other brands of cameras such as Cuddeback and StealthCam, and they've had no problems with them. This will be the last moultrie product I buy.

One postive of this product is the picture quality is great during the day. The nighttime pics are kinda blurry, and the IR doesn't get as much distance as a normal flash would.

moultrie IR camera, September 26, 2009
By joe147 from PA. 20 minutes from Cabelas

"I bought this camera last Dec. during Cabelas great sale. I really just started using it this past month (Sept) I did get some nice photos, however, the display is now defective. It can't be read. I bought the 5.0 megapixel with flash at the same time. I love this unit! The photos are better and it's easier to use. Back to the IR unit, I will be returning it to Cabelas (testing the 1 yr warranty). I hope they will assist me without having to send the unit to Moultrie. I'll keep you up dated.

For the money, I'd go with the 5.0 mega pixel flash unit. I have many deer pictured at night, and none of them seem "spooked" by the flash. If they were spooked, why would they stay in front of the camera for 3 and 4 pictures?! And I am not feeding or baiting them to stay within camera range.

    Don't Bother. Keep looking, September 25, 2009
    By Lumpster83 from New Hampshire

"The first month I had this camera, it worked fine. It then stopped taking color pictures during the day. I returned it and got a replacement. I've had the replacement for about a year and after 4 months it stopped taking color pictures. The color pictures weren't that big of a deal, because I wasn't going to frame them.
I've been trying to use the camera for scouting, but the "mode" button fails to work so I can't put the camera into operation. If you can get through to Moultrie customer service ( I was on the phone for 45 minutes), they pretty much said tough luck if you don't have your receipt. Buying a new camera, not a Moultrie this time.

"got this I50 camera as a christmas gift....pictures leave much to be desired as they are two tone gray and black no color what so ever, no matter how bright the weather. tried two diffrent smart cards but no change. internal memory was the same. even with the enhanced setting the pictures were terrible.
as for moultrie`s customer service for get it . when i tried to call them i was on hold for over a half hour then was disconnected by them. i even tried calling them at 8am central time when they open up, same thing on hold then disconnected again. then i tried to contact them via e-mail, guess what i got no response....avoid them like the plague.
CABELAS is trying to resolve this even though this camera is out of warranty. Thank You Cabela

"After listening to alot of my friends' stories concerning all makes and models of trail cams, I ordered the Moultrie 5.0 Outfitter Camera with Infrared Flash. It was easy to set up and use. I've been happy so far with the quality of pictures the unit produces as well as the quality of the unit itself. I'm now hooked on trail cams and I will be buying a few more in the future to cover more areas of the property."

"I bought this camera about four weeks ago and I am very satisfied with it. So satisfied that I went out and bought two spy i60's. Easy setup, long battery life, and great pictures. I also like being able to label the pictures with their location. The only reason I didn't give it a five is because there is always room for improvement."
