    great stand, semi-great accesories, November 19, 2009
    By jgb45 from Harrisonburg VA

"I orderd this stand about 3 weeks ago, it cam in 2 days after i orderd it. it went togther vary easy, the zip ties it came with where tarable, thay didnt stay on vary well and let the padding slide around so i just got my own zip ties anf put them on and thay are doing great. the rapid climb sterrips r made of a semi-heavy plastis and thay move around if much pressure was put on them, the back pack design works good but the top part cuts into to ur neck. Thehe foot rest is comfortable but it was vary lose when i mounted it to the stand and fell off the first time i went to pratice with it but after i bent the piece outward a little it fit snug and worked great. overall the stand is great and over-comtortable and hard to stay awake in if ur running on little sleep. the accesories after a little alteration work good 2."

Summit Viper Ultra, November 9, 2009
By DeerFeverForLife from St. Louis, MO

"i received the Summit Viper Ultra for christmas last year. i was excited to try it out. it requires assembly which doesent take very long.

    CONS:
    1. Many people say that the paint chips off, and they are not lying. it does, not very much though. if you take care of it and dont sling it around, it shouldnt chip tooo bad.
    2. The seat is in the way while climbing.
    3. The bungee cord hooks on the ends flew off when I sat down after climbing up. i hooked them around the frame as it shows you can, and it was not a good feeling. Make sure you take pliers to the little metal wire that keeps the bungee attatched to the hooks.
    4. Very noisy when its slippery. i reccomend camo tape, not duct tape, but like athletic tape, it decreases noise majorly.
    5. Weird to walk with. the stand often hits me in the back of the legs, and when youre trying to be as quiet as possible, its an inconvenience to for it to hit you. i found my self making little steps just to avoid contact with the stand and my legs.
    6. Difficult to get into the stand when you have it attatched to the tree. its not easy to get in on many trees. try to get the platform as low as possible, and the top section high enough to where you can pull yourself onto the plat form.

    PROS:
    1. very easy to set up. takes only a minute or 2
    2.very easy to climb.
    3. Very very very comfortable!
    4. Light weight, not as much stress on the shoulders like some heavier stands i have used.
    5. very easy to condense after a long day in the tree. when you get used to packing it up, it should only take about two minutes.
    6. For the size, weight of the stand, weight it can hold, comfortability, and accessories, its a no brainer to get this Summit Viper Ultra. Trust me when i say this, you definately want a footrest on your Summit stand because without it it is not very comfortable. when the footrest is attatched, it relievs so much pressure off you legs and lower back. it makes the stand feel larger. This stand is the same size as most of the other stands and it costs less than almost all of them. Why spend extra money for the same size stand? Thank you for reading, i wish i could of seen this message when i was looking at stands. Very good product

Hunting in PA, October 30, 2009
    By Doug454352 from Western Pennsylvania

"This is a very comfortable and assuring stand. I speak as an avid hunter with a slight fear of heights when I say this is a very sturdy stand. It climbs easily and quietly. The safety system that is included is well made and easy to fit even over thick layers. It is still pre-rut and I have only used it for archery. I look forward to taking my muzzleloader and rifle up in it.
The only things I don't like about it is it gets a little heavy hauling it up the mountain. It's not that heavy itself, but when carrying a pack for a day hunt everything gets a little bulky. Also, the bungee cord that connects the back of the seat to the cables broke on the very first use. That was inconvenient but Cabelas and Summit will be hearing from me soon and I am not worried as they both have superior customer service.

Disappointed - Over Rated by Reviews, October 25, 2009
    By txmountainman62 from East Texas

"I have wanted a Summit climbing stand for a while. I have been hunting in climbing stands for 30 years and have used several types. After reading the reviews on the Realtree Viper, I decided to get one. It arrived and I put everything together. I tried it out on an archery whitetail hunt the next weekend. The design for backpacking it is not efficient or functional at all. The bottom "nestles" in the top requiring the backpack straps to be attached to the top piece that you sit on. Then when you get ready to climb, you have to detach the backpack straps from the from of the top piece and attach it to the bottom. On other stands that I have used - the top piece "nestles" over the bottom allowing you to attach the backpack straps to the bottom so that they are out of the way when climbing and don't have to be detached. A separate cord connects the 2 pieces while climbing for safety and also does not have to be detached. The backpack features of the Summit are not functional and waste time and movement when preparing to climb and also when leaving after the hunt.

The cable desgn is okay but a little noisy when adjusting for the tree circumference unless you are very careful. However the coating on the cables in very cheap and some of it is coming off of mine after one use. I noticed that replacement cables are sold in the catalog and I'm afraid I will need new ones after archery season, if not before.

I do like the weight and also the climbing stirrups work well although they are cheap plastic. Rubber coated metal would be better. The stand climbs well and is very comfortable and also quiet when in place. I like the way the seat back attaches to the cables instead of a strap going around the tree.

I expected a more functional and better made stand from Summit for the price and was disappointed with some of the features. I woud rate it a 3 overall. I would rate it a 2 except for the comfort. I will not purchase another and would not recommend to a friend as there are many cheaper brands that are more functional, are just as safe or safer, and climb just as well.

    Great Stand, October 21, 2009
    By ducnut from NE Colorado

"This is the first climbing stand I have owned and it is a great stand, very quiet, comfortable and light weight. I have a hard time staying awake mid afternnon because it is so comfortable. From a safety standpoint it is very secure and solid. If you have never owned a climbing stand before follow the instructions and take the time getting familiar with it before hitting the woods. Good value for the price. You will not be disappointed."

    amazing, October 20, 2009
    By AVERAGERACK from TULLAHOMA, TN

"i just got this in the other day and i will have to say that it is amazing. by far the most comfortable climbing stand i have ever been in. i would recomend this to anyone and already have. that being said here are the pros and cons

cons: minor chips in paint when arrived ( but i always put my own camo paint on anyway). it was a little difficult to seperate the top and bottom section out of the box but managed with a screwdriver. bulky when packing it through thick wooded areas

pros: COMFORT the seat and back rest on this ar simply amazing. arm pads are nice too. verry quiet . verry simple to assemble you dont even need the instructions just a picture which is on the box. and this is pretty light i can actually carry it a couple of miles without having to stop and rest my back

SIMPLEY AN AWSOME STAND FOR AN AWSOME PRICE I DONT THINK YOU CAN FIND A BETTER DEAL ANYWHERE ELSE AND I LOOKED FOR A LONG TIME

Good stand, work required, October 18, 2009
By DuramaxLuke from Scott County, Virginia

"Well when my stand arrived I noticed one small problem but yet very large problem. The top would NOT seperate from the bottom. The teeth on the top part were very tighly binded to the V part on the bottom. After we beat it apart which lasted for literally 1 1/2 hours it came apart, bent, chipped, and scratched. I could not get ahold of the supplier so I went ahead and assembled it and I must say, it was VERY nice after that. Another problem I had was with the self-tapping screws to attach the footrest and rubber bumbers for them which was aweful. I got ahold of them the other morning and they are sending me a new stand and I will be able to send this one back but they cannot garuntee the one they're sending won't be binded as well. I am only giving 4 stars because even though it's a great stand I've lost up to 1 1/2 weeks of hunting due to the error, and the effort required to assemble but all in all a good stand."

    By NorthCarolinaHunter from North Carolina

"Great stand for the money. First season with 6 hunts and the stand has performed great. Very quite while getting up and down the tree. The shoulder straps are a little uncomfortable, but not a problem if you only walk a few hundred yards. Very easy to assemble, but make sure you have a power drill. Overall, outstanding stand."

    Great product!, October 4, 2009
    By ChAlTu from Maine

"I just purchased my new Outfitter Series Viper Ultra climbing stand and found it to be easy to use, quiet, and light. I found the stand to be comfortable in the time that I spent familiarizing myself with it as well. With the included accessories (harness, etc.), I was pleased to find that I had all I needed to get started right there in the box. I am wholly convinced that I made the right choice for my first stand and looking forward to spending some time in it over the next several months!"

"I tried out my new Summit Viper Ultra Treestand today. I was very pleased with how easy and quiet it is to set up. It grips the tree better than any stand I have used over the years. Once it is properly secured to the tree it is as solid and comfortable as anyone could ask for. Good job Summit."

    Awesome Stand, September 9, 2009
By Addict from Colorado Springs, CO

"This is my first treestand, so I really don't have anything to compare it to. That being said, this stand is awesome. It is super easy to use, extremely comfortable, and solid as a rock. I feel super secure no matter how high up I am. Being a bowhunter it's best for me if I stand to shoot. Sitting down with the front wrap around bar may not be best for drawing the bow back. I haven't tried sitting and drawing, but maybe if I scoot forward on the seat a bit that would be possible. It's lightweight, so getting around in the Rocky Mtns. is no problem. That's a huge plus in my book. I would highly recommend this stand to anyone looking for a climber."
