    Good climber, November 2, 2009
    By NucTech from Kansas

"For the money a good climber, I do agree that on slick trees it does have a bit of trouble getting a good bite. Very comfortable to sit in for long hours once you are up in it. The only major draw back was the cheap back pack straps which I replaced with some better after market ones also available from cabelas."

summit bushmaster review, October 26, 2009
    By Ace52 from Western PA

"Bought the Bushmaster last month, been using a climber for 30 years, this one made me lose some confidence in the sureness of it's grips compared to my old "Deerhunter" climber..(out of business many years ago, it's kind of like an old Baker or Amacker). Anyway, used this Bushmaster 3 times, first 2 times on a rough barked oak. Two days ago I ended up using it an aspen tree as it was mature and had a little roughness to it, not enough evidently. All was okay going up and hunting, but upon climbing down the bottom platform was constantly slipping and just wouldnt bite in at all. I blame it on the rubber coated cable, if that simply doesnt grip anything the front teeth dont have a chance to dig in. I had to use a ton of upper body strength to stay for seconds, long enough to grab the rope attached from the sitting platform to the bottom platform. Finally got down, but still have sore muscles from it. DO NOT try to climb a smooth barked tree with this climber, period. Good Luck..."

All the Stand you will EVER need, October 5, 2009
    By johnpatrick from BANGOR, PA

"I pack light. I usually walk in 2-3 miles so my rig is streamlined. I only carry what I need and require the minimal amount of gear that will do the job. When I was choosing a stand, the stand had to be 1) light & easy to pack 2) quick to deploy and set up 3) Comfortable and secure to sit in all day long. The Bushmaster is all three. Since it is only 18 pounds and comes with backpack straps its light enough to carry for miles. Since it is an open shot stand, you not only have a totally unobstructed field of view, but it cuts down on the weight. Conincidentally, open shot stands are faster climbers. Finally because the seat "hangs" by straps from the seat platform, the seat is very comfortable. The bushmaster has an extremely comfortable seat and this is one of the prime reasons I chose this stand in addtion to the above.

Sitting in a tree has never been this enjoyable for me, and getting in and out is a Cinch. I am so glad I chose this stand.

"Seat is very comfotable, but the climbing sturps are junk they had to be reinforced. The backpack straps also leave something to be desired they broke my second trip in to the woods. Overall its pretty good climbs very easily and is very lightweight."

"I like almost everthing about it. It is quick and easy to use. Very quite. Its pretty comfortable. The only problem I have had is the cargo strap that came with the stand broke and I had to go buy a new one. Other than that I would recomend this stand to anyone."

Great stand for the $, August 27, 2009
    By Dolph92 from Minneapolis Mn

"Pros: Light weight easy to carry, Vice like grip on the tree, Climbing stirrups included and large platform for the weight. . Open front makes it great for the bow hunter

Cons: No sit and climb, No gun rest for rifle hunters, Have to adjust for the taper of the tree prior to climbing.

While not a sit and climb stand this stand is perfect for those looking for a comfortable yet mobile platform to get around on. I have used this model for 3 years now and am very pleased. If you do not have a lot of upper body strength you may be better off with a sit and climb model as this one does not allow you to sit while you raise the floor platform so you need so good arm strength. It is a very stable stand and is very easy to adjust the seat height to what ever you need just move the platform up or down. This is a awesome stand for the bow hunter as it is open facing. The included safety equipment was sturdy and secure. When you start your ascent up the tree you have to take into consideration the taper of the tree so the patform may be angled towards the tree pretty steep depending on the tree but evens out when you climb higher.

Big guys beware, August 6, 2009
    By CTDeerslayer from CT

"So here is a contrary review for the bigger guys. I used it one season and am now shopping for a new one.

If you are a big guy pay attention!

The seat is small and if you are going to wear heavy clothing and are around 200lbs it will feel like a vice.

The "arm rests" are useless if you wear a size 46 jacket or larger.

The hand and arm positioning during the climb are really tough.

Just saying try it out first. I wish I had.

I imagine if you are are 5'8 170 it would be a pretty slick climber for the price.

Better be strong!, July 3, 2009
    By MikeB111 from Pickens, SC

"I have used this stand for 2 years now and I'm not getting any younger(51yrs.). Requires a great deal of strength and forearm to climb! Tape and padding are a must and the footrest accessory is xtra nice. A good choice for those under 40 and strict bowhunters like myself, (clear shooting from front side)and it's lightweight big time for packing back farther than others! I now must consider a slightly heavier sit down/climb up type stand!"

Best climber I ever used, May 19, 2009
    By 150CLASSORBETTER from Oconto, Wisconsin

"This is a really nice climber. It's comfortable, easy to climb with and really quite. All though I have not used it hunting yet but I've tried it in the back yard and got the seat adjusted and climbed a few times and liked it right away. The only flaw it has is the paint job. The paint seems to come off real easy but that doesn't really bother me. I figure it's going to get scuffed up out in the woods anyway. If it gets to bad I'll just repaint it or put some camo tape on it. No big deal. It's also really light weight and pretty comfortable when strapped to your back. If you want a climber that is comfortable, quite, light weight and allows you to sit all day, these Summit stand are what to have. Can't wait till this fall to try mine out."

Overall Good Value, November 2, 2008
    By wcsiv from Middletown, NJ

"I used the Bushmaster for the first time the other day and I have a few comments for anyone who may be considering purchasing this stand. First of all, I do own a Summit Viper but wanted an open front climber. The Bushmaster is a totally different climbing experience. All of your weight is put on your forearms and if you are not in somewhat good shape this is not the stand for you. I bought the armrest covers from Summit to make it a little more comfortable climb, also added some athletic grip tape for better hand grip. You also must be incredibly careful when you are standing not to try to grab the top portion for stability. It is a lightweight stand, which is great for portability but does not offer a lot of sturdiness. The platform is small, so if you don't wear a harness you are an idiot. I am 6' 195lbs with a 36" waist, the seat is small so don't plan on wearing a belt with your knife, rangefinder, cell phone and flashlight like I did. I hardly fit in the seat. Don't get me wrong I liked the stand but there is a learning curve to thing so I would definitely recommend a few practice runs in the backyard. If you go slow you can climb silently. I climbed down the other day without spooking a yearling doe that was 30 yds away!"

    Bushmaster treestand, October 27, 2008
    By Shadowboxerman from WI

"The stand is very light thus easy to pack in and out of the woods on your back and have your hands free for a shot. When you get up in the tree and get the stand set it is very stable and comfortable. I am just about at the weight limit for the stand and I have no problem at all stepping on the outermost edge of the platform, or sitting in the seat. The only negative comment I have is the teeth that dig into the tree. These are not very sharp at all, probably for less damage to the tree, but when going up or down either platform will slip quite often. You have to pay attention and make sure each time you move either platform you have it set and apply enough force to dig into the tree so it will not slip. This means you have to take your time and be safer, but if you forget to pay attention maybe because you're keeping an eye out for deer as you go up, it could very easily be eye opening. Other than that I am very happy with this stand and I like the open concept in front as this stand is mainly for bowhunting. With the open front I wear a harness at all times, wheras a closed front I would have a false sense of security and would not wear one."

Excellent stand for bowhunting!, October 25, 2008
    By HRD2SEE from Adrian,MI

"I purchased this climber for the 2008 archery season in Michigan and found that this stand provides excellent mobility and quiet setup for archery hunting. This is my 1st climber, I have used nothing but fixed stands before and I may not go back to a fixed stand again after using this Summit bushmaster.A couple of hunts to get used to going up and down the trees but once I got the hang of how this climber reacts to smooth bark and rougher bark trees, set up can be done within minutes. I found that this climber is better if used in trees that are 14" or bigger in diameter. I would recomend this stand to anyone that bow hunts, For it's easy and light weight and quiet. I changed the seat to the mesh hammock stlye which is less cummbersome than the stock seat, and the hammock style is like sitting in a lazy boy."
