Bear Brave,November 12, 2009
By brave2from PA
"I purchased this bow for my grandson as a birthday present because he enjoyed archery at cub scout day camp. I relied on past experience with Bear products, In my time they were top of the line. This bow is an entry level that maybe a good choice to use for an inexperienced shooter. After a few lessons I found out that it uses a cable and not a string. That means that a peep sight can not be installed. Although this bow is an introductory bow it can not be upgraded when the shooter gains experience in archery. I would recommend anyone purchasing this item know that information upfront and not blindly buy something you will be displeased with. The customer service people at Bear basically tell you it is what it is, and after shooting for awhile you can step up to a more advanced bow. NO TRADE IN OPTION ALLOWED.. So after a few months of instruction at an indoor range the bow becomes lesser adaptable to the shooter skills. I recommend buying another type or even brand of bow for young shooters if they are expected to enjoy the sport and advance with out having to purcahse new equipment at a regular pace. There probably is nothing wrong with it however CAVEAT EMPTOR."

Nice Bow - For the Right Age,August 8, 2009
By kwtradingfrom Killingworth,CT
"Purchased this bow for my daughter who just turned 7 and was excited to start archery. Got it at the Cabelas store. Should have asked to take it out of the box and try before buying because it turns out it is just too much for her to pull. I adjusted poundage as low as it can go but unfortunately she's not ready for it. She's left handed and there are not that many options unless you go to something that works for left and right which tend to be a little cheesier.
However, I really like the bow otherwise. Comes with a one pin site (plenty to start) and quiver. You will need to install a nock set so when you nock the arrow it won't slide up and down the string because the string is a very slippery material I can see driving a kid nuts without one.
The was very fast out of the box at the set weight. Like another person noted - this is not a toy - and I would not leave a kid unattended with it unless they are really responsible. That being said, not being a toy is a great thing for the kid thats ready for this level. I'd say 8-10 years old is a good age for this bow."

Good little bow,November 29, 2008
By Boymanfrom New Hampshire
"I read the other reviews on this bow, shopped around at the local retail and sporting good stores and still decided on this bow. I agree with some of the other reviews, the arrows are poor quality but I wouldnt waste my time or money ordering additional arrows. I purchased this bow for my daughter to get her interested in hunting and to spend time with her doing something fun. I found the arrows nearly as long as my bow that has a drop away rest so the simple solution was file down the end of a couple field tips and give her a couple of my carbon arrows that fly 10 times better then the ones that came with the bow. Kids arent looking for quality at 6-10 years old, they are looking for a bow thats looks just like mommy or daddys and thats what this bow did for us. Yea the rest is junk but it will work fine for this year. The arrows are poor quality, just use some of your own. The bow does not have much power but thats a good thing, my daughter just turned 7 and can not pull it back all the way without help. at 10-12 feet away it will stick in the target if you use a sharp field point. Next year maybe I will throw a cheep rest on it and and maybe an old set of sights. The bow has served its purpose, my daughter gets excited about shooting it with me, she feels like she has a bow just like daddys and wants to take an 8 point buck with it. In a year or two she will have outgrown it and will be ready for a youth model bow that she can take her first dear with. I found this bow to be perfect for a 6-8 year old."

This Bow did not live up to our expectations.,September 22, 2008
By Smith67from Portageville, Missouri
"I bought this bow for my 10 year old son to practice with because it looked nice and it sounded like it would a good first bow for him. We were both really disappointed with this bow. I would have been much better if I had spent my money on an old used bow for him but he's left handed and those are hard to find used."
