Safe Skies TSA Locks,August 22, 2009
By ChantzHfrom Amarillo, TX
"DO NOT BUY THESE LOCKS. I made the mistake and almost didn't get to bring my newly purchased gun home on the plane. The locks create the worst possible situation. Mine worked once, so when I arrived at the airport, they were already seized up and would not open with the combination. TSA was kind enough to hear my explanation and walk my bag through after opening the lock with their key. When I arrived home, I had to cut the locks off of my suitcase and the gun case. What a waste of money and time. Be warned if you buy these locks you will have nothing but problems with them."

TSA Locks are not approved for locking firearms,May 8, 2009
By ruger357from Los Gatos, CA
The container must be locked and only the passenger may retain the key or combination (TSA Recognized Baggage Locks Not Allowed).
Note that "only the passenger" may know the combination or have a key (if a keyed lock). A TSA recognized baggage lock does NOT meet this requirement as TSA personnel have access to the combination or have a master key.
If you really want to use this or any other TSA approved lock to secure your firearms, DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. You may face a $10,000 fine and/or criminal charges as well as risk losing your firearm.
Cabelas should remove reference of firearm locking from this and all TSA Approved locks."

Safeskies Locks,November 17, 2008
By Andrew247from Marietta, GA
"Do not buy these locks. The internal mechanisms do not seem to work properly. When we arrived in Zambia I had to break open the zipper on the duffle bag containing my ammunition in order for Zambian Customs authorities to inspect my ammo. We ended up cutting off the lock with a hacksaw, a second lock then failed and had to be cut. These were set with my combination and worked when we left home but could not be opened when we arrived overseas. This is a terrible product."

Does not inspire confidence,October 15, 2008
By MikeNeuquenfrom Wyoming
"Locks function as advertised but look a little on the lite side. I did not try to break but I am sure that with little difficulty lock could be busted open with multi-tool. On the other hand, if some one really wanted to steal case contents, it would be easier to take whole case, guns and all and worry about the opening later."

"Both locks fell off in transit. One each way of the flight. Due to the lock falling off the rod to holding latches was lost."

Really Unhappy,September 24, 2008
By Elkseekerfrom California
"After reading the reviews I decided on these TSA approved locks. After the flight I picked up my gun case only to find one of the two locks broken and unable to re-lock due to some internal problem as the lock was not phyically damaged on the outside. The combo still worked but the lock would not secure. On my return trip I found the other lock to have the same internal issue and the lock fell off my gun case before I made it to the car. I surmise the lock has issues when the TSA personnel use their key or the lock is just really badly made. Don't buy or do buy two sets to make it to and from your destination. I used the cable type TSA locks I had on my bags to get the gun case back home."

Lock it up,September 23, 2008
By Smazfrom Richland, WA
"This is what I was looking for but could not find. I travel a lot with my firearms and this is a must for anyone else. They are small and easy to use, plus they do pass TSA requirements. Why buy a lock when you can buy the "One" that does everything."

Safe Skies TSA Lpcks,July 8, 2008
By alakazamfrom Burlington, WA
"Great locks, just be sure when you go to set combo that you hold down the shackle until you are completely done. let it up accidently and you have set the combo. Then if you complete your desired combo by pressing down the shackle, it won't change, but be the partial combo you set without knowing/remembering/recording the numbers. My finger slipped off the shackle and now I have a lock I can't open. Once you let up, that's it. If you don't remember the incomplete combo, your out of luck. You must reset those specific numbers to complete the desired combo."
