Better placement of sensor!,
October 22, 2008
By stinrjm
from Harrisonburg, Va.
|
"When installed as instructed, the sensor fell off the sticky tape within 24 hrs. Not sticky tape off the car. When mounted in the door jam as instructed, the thermometer reads 15+ degrees higher than the outside temperature. This is because it is reading the engine heat coming from under the hood. The sensor needs to be mounted in front of the radiator to get fresh outside air. I plan to mount it there if there is enough wire to reach."

"Sorry but this item is nothing but junk. Don't waste your money on it. It never worked right and after two hours fell apart. I have never given a bad review on anything before this. I feel bad doing this, but people need to know."

Warm outside temp,
August 5, 2008
By CavecubCoach
from Grants Pass,OR
|
"I like the looks and ease of installation however, the outside temperature tends to be around 3-4 degrees warmer due to engine heat. I am going to have to move the outside thermostat to a different location than what the package says to get a more accurate measurement."

Bell Slimline Thermometer,
July 23, 2008
By BarryC
from Quakertown, Pa
|
"I found that the outside thermometer to be very accurate but not where they tell you to put the sensor. I had it inside my door jam just below the door hinge as indicated on the instructions. I noticed that it was not accurate at all and displayed varying temperatures. I called Ford to find out where they located their outside temperature sensor and found that they located theirs in front of the grill on the upright cross member. There is plenty of cord on the sensor so I had no problem with the relocation. After I relocated the sensor, everytime I went by a posted temperature (like at a bank) my Bell was always within 1 degree. Inside temperature for whatever reason is always reads a little warmer than it really is. Good product !!"

"Do not buy this product!!!! Cabelas should take it out of the catalog. I followed the directions for the install, when I am driving down the road the temp changes a lot. Also when the A/C is on in my car and it is very hot outside it says it is way hotter inside than it actually is. Do not Buy!!!!!!!"
