SteriPen utilizes an ultraviolet lamp to destroy the DNA of viruses, bacteria and protozoa, including giardia and cryptosporidium. These handheld units purify 16 oz. of clear water in just 48 seconds and a full liter in 90 seconds. That's up to 160 times faster than chemicals. Just push the button, place lamp in clear water and stir until the indicator turns green. The user-replaceable lamp purifies up to 1,250 gallons.
The SteriPen Classic is compatible with a variety of water bottle sizes and openings. Four AA batteries (not included) will power the Classic through 200 16-oz. water treatments.
The SteriPen Adventurer is a backpacker's best friend. Powered by two included CR-123 lithium batteries, this unit has plenty of energy for up to 100 16-oz. treatments.
