TOUGH CONDITIONS,
November 23, 2009
By SCOUTMASTERBOB
from Spokane, WA
|
"An outing with scout troop in very windy conditions demonstrated a need for grommets in the corners of tent saver. I agree with other reviews saying material is too thin. We set up on an open grass/mowed lawn campgound spot. No stones/rocks, branches or pine cones to deal with and still had a couple of small tears in corners."

"Okay so laying out a heavy plastic tarp on top of the upside-down tent and cutting a one-piece pattern wouldn't be have been easier - just cheaper."

By camplady

"A must have.I put it over little rocks and did not break a hole into the saver.Keeps the tent protected and clean!!!You don't want to put your nice tent with a dirty bottom into your carry bag, when it is so affordable."

Alaskan Guide Tent Floor Saver,
October 14, 2008
By sbing1960
from Tony, WI
|
"As many of the others have mentioned - Too bad it is not constructed of a heavier ply material. It is nice that it is cut to fit the tent's foot print perfectly, just too light of material. I will use it for a pattern and cut one out of something more durable. Definitely better than using nothing at all."

NOT WORTH IT!,
September 25, 2008
By stickbow35
from Southern, WV

"guys this is a poor product. The liner is very thin. Not worth the money. Although it is shaped to fit the Alaskan Guide tents I recommend just a simple ol blue tarp or an alternative. However I to recommend the Cabelas floor liner for the inside of the tents"

Disappointed............!!!!!,
September 16, 2008
By LarryCDav
from North Carolina
|
"Guy's.......I have to give a very poor rating for this product.........!!!!!! It's just "way" too thin for it's intended purpose...............!!!!! We found several holes punched in it as we were "breaking" camp Labor Day Weekend.....!!! This was the first time we used it and now, unfortunatly, it will be the last time.......!!!! We have a "hand picked" campsite off the Blue Ridge Parkway that we "regularly" reserve.........It is smooth and grassy and we do "meticulously" scour it for debris prior to set-up...........however, this made very little difference as holes were punched through anyway.....!!!! This product needs to be, at least, four(4) times, or MORE, thicker........it's VERY unreliable as it is...............!!!!!! I truly hate to give a bad review because we do "love" Cabela's and, usually, all of your fine product line............!!!!!!!!! Now I am "forced" to revert back to my old reliable "heavy" nylon tarp..........doesn't fit the tent very well but it sure gets the job done...............Thanks for all the great years and great products.......... Sincerely, LCD-North Carolina"

"I thought this product is nice to have but is thin as others have pointed out. I was thinking as using it as a template to mark out onto a thick tarp then cuttout to use."

Alaskan Guide Model Tent Floor Saver,
August 11, 2008
By tthshucker

"After only one trip there are hole in it. It is lightweight, but very cheesy. It was not expensive, but still a waste of money. I would rather have one of Cordura or Canvas that would last the life of the tent."

Great moisture barrier plus,
August 10, 2008
By Overfly
from Paulden, AZ
|
"I used this liner on a weeklong camp in Wisconsin. The camping conditions were on nice grass. This liner was as thick as advertised and provided excellent protection from moisture and abrasion from rocks and roots that were present under the tent. The fact that it is cut to the size of the tent (and it was perfect) makes this a lot less bulky than carrying an oversized tarp instead. If you were to camp on more extreme surfaces such as gravel or other hard abrasive surfaces, you might want to use a heavier tarp, even another the floor liner used on the inside of the tent, on the ground first then this floor saver as a great moisture barrier. The only reason I did not give it four stars, is that it could be thicker and more suited for extreme conditions."

Bad product description,
July 14, 2008
By UPSguy
from Toledo, OH
|
"The product description says 6mm. 6mm is almost a 1/4" and there is no way this is that. The other thing is I thought you didn't want the ground cloth to stick out from the bottom of the tent and for something that is supposedly cut just for this tent it sure sticks out a lot.
And yes, I did get the 8 man version for the 8 man tent."

Could be a little stronger.,
April 9, 2008
By HercPilot
from Fort Worth, TX

"In the past, I have used your garden variety tarp under my tent. Now that I have the AGM 8 man tent, your garden variety tarp just doesn't seem to fit (size or shape). I purchased the floor saver to add that one additional layer of protection to my tent. Right out of the package I was a little concerned because it just didn't seem very thick. Still, I set it up in my back yard to ensure that it was the right size and shape and in the process, it received a couple of small cuts. My back yard is not exactly "the wilderness," so I am concerned with how it will stand up in the field. It isn't very expensive so I suppose I shouldn't expect a whole lot out of it but I certainly didn't expect setting it up in my back yard to be pushing it to the limits. That being said, I am not throwing it out, it can still provide a little extra protection to my tent floor but I just expected a little more out of it. Despite the low overall rating, I would still recommend it mostly because there just isn't anything else out there that will fit under a monster tent like the AGM 8 man and as long as you don't expect a whole lot out of it, you might like it."

Floor saver okay at best.,
September 24, 2007
By Tentdude
from Idaho
|
"I purchased this floor saver to protect my 8 man guide model tent. I felt the material was very thin and would only provide marginal protection at best. While I think the tent is one of the best tents ever built and the floor liner that goes with the tent is a very innovative and excellent product, I can't say the same for the flimsy floor saver tarp. Save your money and but two floor liners."

Floor Saver,

"Stick with the Liner only. The floor saver is nothing more than a plastic gabage bag cut to the shape of the tent floor. Make one your self or buy a cheaper and stronger tarp"

Protection for investment,

"Used this tent floor saver for a week long camping trip, it did it's job over gravel and moderate brush. Just be careful with it and it holds up well. Would recommend that this product be thicker for increased durablility."
