"The reasons for the purchase of a Raymarine Ray 49 VHF radio was first & foremost brand name. Asking around the consensus was, 'you won't do much better than that'... Let the industry be the judge!!! What better opinion can you get???
Ascetically, I like it, & all the controls are in the right places for me.
Was at first overawed by all the features, I thought I'd never get a handle on the operation of them!! But when you sort the wheat from the chaff & work out the features you will most often use it's not so daunting.
Mounting the unit was a snack 4 SSS/T screws & the jobs done, I like the slots in the mounting bracket where the radio is secured to it, if you want to remove the unit from your boat for security purposes a couple of turns on the thumb screws to loosen them then just pull the unit out. It can be a fiddly job on re installation if you have to remove the thumb screws completely, particularly if the unit is mounted in a tight position.
Operational wise it sends & receives well within the manufacturer's parameters & will continue to do so for years to come... After all it's a Raymarine product! :-) :-)"
