Not suitable for Field Work, December 29, 2008

"We have used GPSMap 76 units for biological field work and felt that an upgrade would be ok. Two faults became apparent upon purchase of a 300 unit; 1. the inability to display multiple tracks and 2. the difficulty of using the unit with thrid party software. We have scraped plans to upgrade our field gps until these issues have been corrected."

Do not Buy, October 19, 2008

"My hunting partner and I both decided to upgrade our old Garmins to the new Colorado for our Arizona Elk Hunt in September. This was a mistake. Both of our units had problems turning on at 45 degree Temperatures. They both were constantly having to be calibrated for proper direction. The screen was to dim and hard to read(even at the brightest setting it was sometimes hard to read). It also burned through batteries. We returned both units back to cabelas where they refunded our money. The Hunt was a success, a 351 and 325 bull killed. No thanks to the GPS."

Great new GPS, April 29, 2008

"I couldn't be happier with a GPS. This one is all Garmin says it is. Packed with features. Satellite accuisiton is very fast. In deep forested valleys, I never lost signal. The batteries lasted as well, ( I use Lithium ) an average of 6 hours a day used for 3 days. The Colorado is user friendly with easy one hand operation. The larger screen is nice and has great resolution as well. I am also able to use my older Garmin US Topo version with this GPS, saving me money. The only feature I haven't used is the picture viewer. I have several Garmin GPS's and enjoy them all. This one is all I've come to expect from Garmin."
