My favorite backpacking gear,February 10, 2008
By JohnBSA33from Santa Barbara, CA
"I love backpacking but at 52 and a bad back, I thought my high adventure days were over until I got this cot. Now I sleep as well as I do home. My hips especially love it. It is super light weight and compact so it fits no problem into my pack. All my backpacking buddies have it now too. This summer I took it on a 10 day 80 mile High Sierra's trip and it worked great. The cot is very well engineered and takes about 5 minutes for me to assemble on the trail."

Best Night Sleep on the Ground Ever,October 9, 2009
By SES350from San Jose, Ca
"I have been backpacking for a little over 20 years and I can honestly say sleeping on this cot is the best sleep I have ever gotten while backpacking. It is alittle tricky getting into it as you do not want to put your weight in certain spots but once you are in you are good to go. I usually sleep on my side an this cot worked great for that as well."

A great product,August 25, 2009
By Sleepingwellfrom Home of the Steelers & Penguins
"We now have a lightweight and comfortable pair of cots that work well for me and my wife. I don't know how durable they will be, but the unconditional guarantee that states something like "call us direct and we will send you replacement parts" sounds OK to me.
The second time I set it up, it was easy.
We also added the heavy self-inflating pads on top...a great combination"

Well it's light and packs Small,August 1, 2009
By DodgeITfrom Oregon
"I've used this cot twice now, for a total of three nights. It does pack small and it is very light. I'm sure that it beats sleeping on rocky Ground, but it also seems from the directions that you should only use this on smooth flat ground... I'd definitely recommend a pad of some sort, as I didn't find it to be as comfortable as others did. I planned to use it on multi-day motorcycle trips as well as pack in trips. I'm not sure that I'll bother on the Motorcycle trips. I'm also concerned about the durability of this product. On the two occasions that I used the cot it took me between five and ten minutes to setup or take down. I'd rate it higher but for the cost/durability..."

Works great with new feet,July 3, 2009
By BoomerGuyfrom California
"I really love it. I had the older version with the gray plastic feet and the middle ones would bend sometimes. I called the company and they replaced them with the new black feet that work great... they do not bend even when I set up on the slope in my back yard. The best thing about the UL Cot is I don't have to find a perfect smooth spot to camp. Bumps don't reflect thru like on an air pad. Great for my old body."

good BUT,June 30, 2009
By woodfolksfrom plattsburgh, NY
"First let me say I am 6'6" and 300 lbs With a pad and a sleeping bag (winter) I will push it to 325 lbs
THe problem at the greater weight is the little feet bend. If they would make them out of alumminum they would work at the greater weight.
If you are big think about a blow up mat for one they work great.
Do I like this cot yes my son will use it If we could keep the feet from bending Id buy a secound one"

waste of money,April 29, 2009
By herplawfrom Bird Island, MN
"I looked for a cot like this for years, and even after finding this one hesitated because of the price. After further searching and still not finding anything else suitable for backpacking, bicycling and motorcycle camping, I decided to get one.
I used it on 4 nights, on two different trips. It collapsed during 100% of the nights. I am 6'2 and 240 lbs and evidently move around a bit during the night. I also tend to sleep on my side and front a bit, hence my desire for a cot.
The legs would constantly twist out from under the cot and I would end up at least partially on the ground and awake in the middle of the night. Repeatedly.
I used all the legs and the double arms in the middle, to no avail. I was as flat as camping can be, on grass and without rocks or roots.
In the end, it was a total failure and I am back looking for something else."

Just what is advertised,March 11, 2009
By Paul946from South Jersey
"This cot is just what I needed. I have a two man tent that I carry in my pack. I used to sleep on a self-inflating mat but there was a problem. I have three herniated disk that are on the mend. The last time I slept on the mat, I paid for it. I thought I'd never enjoy camping again. That all changed with this cot. It is super light. I didn't think it could take my weight (260 lbs.). It can. I thought because I was tall (6'5) It wouldn't be comfortable. It is. It is small when it is packed up. Everything that was advertised, it did well. If you don't have upper body strength, it could be hard to put together. Yes, it is expensive. Try sleeping on a mat versus this cot and you'll see why I paid extra. By the way, Cabelas handled my order beyond my expectations. They are great."

Pretty good system,February 9, 2009
By futurerancherfrom Alaska
"I purchased the cot a couple months ago and have slept on it a few different times. I can't disagree with any of the other reviews but I have found that it is not as comfortable as I was hoping. With that said, it beats the heck out of the old pad on the ground thing. I found that by placing my shoes in front of the cot and something on each side I could extend my hands without them falling asleep due to hanging out over mid air. I attribute this to my personal style of sleep. I gave it four stars as I wish they would have included the extra poles for us guys that weigh a touch more than average. Great product overall and am going to get one for my wife."

Luxury Lite Cots,October 7, 2008
By DonnaFfrom Massachusetts
"I love the luxury lite cots, we have only used them one night so far, so I don't know about long term use, but I really liked them. After spending a summer of my husband sleeping on the ground then me sleeping on the ground for three nights after leaky air mattress incidents we decided to go another route. We go camping on our motorcycles and needed something that packed small. These cots pack so small and are comfortable. They take a little time to set up. But I think we will get faster at it as we use them more. We did use those thin air pads on top of them, although it wouldn't be too bad with just the cot, it is much more comfortable with the pads. And much better than basically sleeping on the ground if your air mattress leaks in the middle of the night."

No more air beds,October 4, 2008
By Anonymousfrom Redding Calif.
"Absolutely the end of my search for a comfortable answer to sleeping in the back country. No more bulk and under inflated air beds for an old mans back. A bit pricey but certainly every bit what the manufacture claims it to be. The suggestion to place it under the tent is a very good one and worked out great in wet weather."

Luxury Lite Cot on a extremely poor camp site!,September 22, 2008
By Cheezerfrom Hinton,Iowa
"Recently purchased this cot for an Archery Elk Hunting expedition in Washington State. The camp site that my buddies pick is extremely poor, probably from the horses the rifle hunters used the year prior. To find a flat spot in the tent you had better be the one setting it up and that spot will not be very big. I think my buddies purposely pick this spot every year so they can hear me complain. The Luxury Lite Cot performed extremely well and I slept like I was in my bed at home. No rocks or bumps poking me in the back or hips. It packs easily and does not take up nearly as much room as the thicker air mattresses that do not match the comfort of this cot. I would highly recomend this cot. It is a bit pricy, but you get what you pay for."

suspended above the stones.. barely,April 7, 2008
By justapackingfrom up along the Gila
"Had to leave my last old pack goat up on a high point overlooking the river and as such have had to cut back to where my Kadafi pack vest weighs more than my sleeping gear . So far this cot has keep me up out of the Arizona stones but not the rocks. I use my trusty 3 &1/2# 22 hornet/410 combo as tent pole to support my mosquito net just in case the buggers try to carry me off. Shore do miss those old goats and the xtra water ."

Get's you back where you need to be,February 10, 2008
By KDOG98
"When I was younger I'd go backpacking all the time. Roughing it never bothered me then. In a way I think I even enjoyed the discomfort. Part of a manning-it up boy-phase I suppose. As I got older, I kept up with the outdoor thing--I just changed the way I did things. A night under the stars in the peace in quiet for a week or two in Appalachians still appealed but I didn't want to rough it any more. I'd done that. A man shouldn't have to man-up just for the sake of doing so. Only when needed. Enter this cot. I have never had such a nights' sleep while backpacking before. Not even when I was a kid. The thing works. Believe me. Unconventional sure. But it works. I'm about 5'9" 160lbs and it floats me. It's a bit fragile so be warned but that's because of it's so lightweight comparitively. However, this is a tradeoff common to 90 percent of all lightweight backpacking gear and one I'm more than willing to make if it keeps treking in style and comfort. There's nothing else like it out there. So take care of it and it'll keep up. Plus, it'll get you back to where you need to be. Which is on the trail. Always."

Luxurylite Cot,February 9, 2008
By jearogfrom Dallas, Oregon.
"I used the Luxurylite Cot extensively last year to backpack parts of the Pacific Crest Trail. I had reduced my pack weight, but found that I wasn't getting a good night's sleep. I am not a Spring Chicken and I was waking up with sore shoulders and hips. I added the little bit of extra weight of the cot. The solid, good night sleep I got with the cot was worth the extra weight. There are no pressure points: you float. Now, at the end of 10-15 mile days, I can be sure of a great night's sleep. I wake up ready to start another day. No more sore hips or shoulders."

Luxury Lite UL Cot,February 9, 2008
By danfromvanfrom Vancouver, BC
"Best sleeps I've ever had on multi-day bicycle tours. Consistenly comfortable after 60-80 miles on the road each day. Woke up fresh and ready to go the next morning. Easy to assemble and easier to get back in the same size bag than my other high-end inflatable sleeping pad ever was. Very light although most are supported rides and I don't have to carry it much. Also, a friend stayed for a week and had the choice of alternating with another friend between the Luxury Lite and a comfortable queen size bed. They chose the Luxury Lite every night. Excellent quality product and worth every penny. Highly recommended for cycle touring...Dan"

Best cot to carry,February 9, 2008
By KellyDfrom California
"This cot is so light that you can add a pad. I added a light 2.5 inch thick air-core inflatable and it's as comfortable as my bed at home, yet both together weigh just 4 pounds. I never use the air-core on the ground because that's just asking for a leak, but on your cot it is heavenly; the cot protects it from getting a puncture and the cot alone is great even if the mattress fails. I've always been troubled by the hip-joint pressure point; I have to sleep on my side. This bothers me more than rain or snow, its the only real downer on my hiking trips. This cot has solved that problem for me. I've used it for a year now, with a tent and without - the longest trip was a week in the High Sierra, and even with the cot and a bear vault I kept my pack under 46 lbs. BTW, I weigh 200 but my bones are pushing 50 yrs. This cot should keep me camping for as long as I last."
