Great Canopy but Poor Storage Bag Quality,August 30, 2009

"We bought this canopy to replace an older discount club 10' x 20' canopy that had poles that come apart and a canopy that is held on with bungies. The old one was quite heavy and a bit of a project to set-up. The Cabela's Commercial Grade Canopy is much much easier to set-up and is very well made. It is also heavy, but not as heavy as our old one. It has the added advantage of having wheels on the end of it's storage bag which work well. Unfortnately the first time I went to lift the canopy in its bag to load it into my car, the bag material ripped. I lifted from the integrated handles with rubber grips that were sewn onto the bag. The handles and stitching held but the bag material could not take the weight of the canopy. I called Cabela's and they promptly sent me a new storage bag, no questions asked. But, the first time I lifted the canopy in its new bag, the bag ripped again. The bag design needs reinforcing or a heavier material. The bag will probably work fine for the lighter models(10'x10' & 10'x15') but if you are buying the 10'x20' you should expect the storage bag to fail. Otherwise a great canopy."

"I camped with a 10x10 canopy for years and always wanted a little more room. The 10x15 is perfect. With only four legs there is nothing in your way. It goes up in a couple of minutes and the storage bag has enough room to easily get the canopy packed away when its time to go home. It took the full brunt of severe thunderstorm with no damage."

"The 10x20 canopy worked great. It went up easy well made easy to take down. It held up in the wind but the tie down rope is too small ratchet straps work better with tent stakes. You do need than one person to put up. The other thing it is heavy to move when folded up. Over all it is a good heavy built canopy. Would buy again."

"I ordered this canopy because it is from Cabela's. Cabela's product reputation is well established and they stand by their products. The commercial grade canopy is built strong and I expect it to last many years. This multipurpose canopy offers other accessories to make it a fastastic purchase. (e.g. screen room, side panels, gravity pack) The canopy came in a nice wheeled bag, making it easy for women to handle. This canopy is worth the money and cared for properly will stand by the Cabela name."

"After researching online and comparing all the sites which offered canopies, I selected and purchased the Cabela 10x10 canopy as a replacement for another E-Z up style canopy that sold exclusivlely at a large wholesale store and no longer offers replacement frame parts or canopy tops to fit it. The new Cabela canopy was shipped promptly and arrived packed firmly inside a double cardboard carton. After opening the cartons the sturdy frame, canopy top and tie -down stakes all fit nicely inside the rugged zip up (top to bottom) storage bag that is equipped with handles and wheels on the bottom of the bag to assist easy tranporting. The canopy took approx 6 minutes to set up with the assistance of a friend. It is superior by far in design and quality from the other E-Z shelter model I had. It looks great in the day time and awesome at night time with the LED rope light I installed along the horizontal frame rails. I am extremly pleased with this purchase."

"when i read all the positive reviews about this 10 X 10 gazebo i thought no way can this be that good. i thought since it had cabelas name on it the reviews were inflated. boy was i wrong. my main concern was rain pooling on the canopy and the day i put it up it rained and the rain continued for three days. not a DROP of pooling happened. the rain ran right off the top, no problem. the second concern was how the wind affected it. yesterday we had a severe storm for about 3 hours blowing 60 mph winds with torrential rains and hail. the canopy swayed a bunch .and three of the spikes pulled up about 1/2 inch. we had mature trees break under the strain and i thought the whole thing was going to blow away with all the swaying it was doing but other than those spikes pulling up it made it just fine thru that storm. if you are looking for a quality product this is it!!!"

"We recently used the 10X15, with two side walls, on a camping long weekend in the Pocono mountains. A thunderstorm blew through for about two hours, with heavy rain and strong winds. The Cabela's commercial grade instant-up canopy worked great !! We had staked it down and used the tie-down ropes, and the canopy withstood the 25-30mph winds. The only leak we had was one small drip in one seam. My wife and I can set this up in less then ten minutes, takedown is about the same... another great product from Cabela's !"

Great canopy with superior strength,May 30, 2009

"I purchased my Cabelas canopy last year after two of my EZ-Up shelters were broken from wind damage in the desert the previous two years. So far I have taken my 10x10 canopy out on about 6 trips and I am very satisfied. We camp in the desert where the wind gusts pick up without warning and have been known to destroy many canopies. My previous canopies had a weaker design that allowed the frame to flex and metal parts to snap. The Cabelas canopy has a much sturdier frame and has extra support which wont allow it to flex the same way that cheaper models do during windy conditions.
Recently my canopy was put through the ultimate test. My dad and I were shooting in the desert and needed some shade so we set up the canopy. Before we had the chance to stake it down the canopy was lifted up by the wind and taken about 50 yards. My previous canopy would have been destroyed but this one withstood the test. We ran over to find the canopy a little scratched up, but in one piece and working perfectly. The thick frame and extra support held this canopy together just fine.
Expect this canopy to be a little heavier than an EZ-Up and also expect it to be about a foot taller when folded up, but it is well worth the added strength. The canopy sets up with ease and tears down nicely. The white top is designed to be taken off and folded up inside of a seperate compartment in the carrying case which can be a litttle time consuming. Instead we decided to simply fold up the top with the rest of the canopy and put it in the bag together which seems to fit just fine. Great product at a reasonable price."
