Great potential, but not quite there yet,September 30, 2008
By RockyMtnBackpackerfrom Colorado
"This filter does perform as advertised and purifies water very quickly and easily. It's super light, and the backflushing isn't too hard to do once you've practiced a couple of times. It's probably a good idea to backflush each day as recommended in the instructions. Unfortunately, after a few days of use, the flow became incredibly slow and required the application of tremendous force. No amount of backflushing would help. In fact, the flow was just as slow while backflushing. MSR customer service confirmed that this was a common complaint and indicated that they would replace my filter, but that they were currently doing research to fix the problem. They are guessing that it will take a couple of months for them to figure it out. So you might want to wait a while before buying one of these. As for me, it's a tough call whether I'll want to continue using this filter. When it worked, the performance was fantastic, and of course I love the small size and light weight. However, reliability is important in a water purifier, and I really trust my old MSR MiniWorks which has been a workhorse for many years. I suspect that they'll get the kinks worked out of this product eventually."

So here's the deal...,September 23, 2008
By Nick1228from Columbia, MO
"I bought the Hyperflow three weeks ago and was blown away by how fast it pumped water from my sink (like a friggin' supersoaker!). So I practiced backflushing once then packed it up and headed on the trail for a one nighter. Worked great for first nalgene then by the third, the flow had reduced so dramatically that I decided to backflush it. Backflushed 10 pumps being sure to pull the handle slowly on each backstoke. Basically the pump was only pumping 25% of the original no matter how many times I backflushed it (wasting all the water I worked so hard to pump!). My solution for "FIXING" the clogged filter. Instead of pulling the pump handle slowly on your backstoke, pull it hard and fast. The pressure generated will be greater, pushing the clean water through the filter with more force. You will just have to hold the handle back until the chamber fills with water. Make sure to collect some of the backflushed water and check it's color. Do not pump just 10 times every 8 liters. When performance is low backflush until the water coming out is clear. Be sure to collect water in something clear you can not tell the color by watching it squirt out of the pump. Hope this helps....sure helped me!"

Great product,August 25, 2008

"Very lightweight, has fast output (fill two 3L camelbak bladders and two Nalgenes in under 5 min), and can be reverse-flowed for backcountry cleaning (I haven't had it clog on me yet). This is a great asset to any backpacker's gear, especially for better tasting water (in place of Iodine tablets)."

great small package,July 17, 2008
By Crosstalkfrom Raleigh, NC
"This was a great filter, the one thing is if filling a camel back make sure and get the camelback adapter, and cut a section of the hose of the intake to use as an adapter. We used it pumped water very fast, and we had our camelbacks filled in no time. Also the bottle adapter was very nice. The only thing I with it had was a separate bag to store the non contaminated parts in away from the filter that had just been in the water."

MSR Hyperflow,June 4, 2008
By Mikulfrom Clanton, Alabama
"Having used different water filtration devices, not to mention numerous other products, from this company I had no reservations purchasing a product that promised greater/improved results. I can honestly say I was not disappointed. The "Hyperflow" delivered on its stated claim of increased water volume per minute of effort. Translation: Less time squatted down by a creek pumping water and more time enjoying what nature has to offer. Once you try the "Hyperflow", your other water filtration devices will probably end up at a garage sale. You will not be disappointed with this product!"

"been wanting this filter ever since i first heard of it and saw a demo online at a trade show. cabelas was the only website i could find that had it in stock. its small, light, and pumps water like crazy. very easily field mantainable. ive only got to use it in the feild on a recent 5 day trip through the smokies and it performed awesome. everyone else had their msr miniworks and the hyperflow outperformed them by a mile. water tasted great and i didnt get sick. looking forward to more extended time in the backcountry due to this little marvel."
