Good idea gone bad,

"This item is a good idea, but has many flaws. The first is the fact the adhesive that is supposed to attach to the truckside and tailgate does not stick to all materials including bedliners. Also if you use your truck for hauling, and drag something across the strip you can pull the adhesive loose. I glued the strip down with crazy glue and it works fine.. Needs a better design for the concept"

"I had thought that this was something that would fill the tail gate gap and would be removable/reusable. It conists of a a heavy strip of rubber/plastic with an adhesive back that sticks to both the bed and tailgate. Once installed it has to be removed to remove the tailgate and I question whether it could be reused. I also have a painted on/textured bedliner. I questioned it's ability to stick to that as well. The product was returned without being used."

"Sorry: "But NOT functial" This was a good idea but it only attaches to the truck and tailgate with doublesided tape. Not strong enough for any one who uses thier truck for any thing other than a street runner."

"The adhesive is inadequate!!!! The sticky backing is a major concern. This is especially true if the temperature is below zero Celsius ( 32 Fahrenheit)!
I recommend the manufacturer supply the customer with an adhesive tube they've tested for use over a wider temperature range."

"A note to those who have reviewed this in the past...Cabela's has changed this product for the good. Two years ago I purchased one of these for my F-150, it was a two-piece flexible plastic, that when applied correctly stayed on pretty well. I had no complaints. Since then I purched an 05' Tundra and ordered another gap cover. Now, instead of plastic, it is a very durable, single strip of rubber. The instillation was the same as the past product, clean, adhere, let sit. I was worried at first because the gap in my truck got bigger when closing the tailgate, thus this rubber gap cover needed to be stretched to close the tailgate. I figured what the heck, thought for sure that attempting to stretch this would surely peel the double-sided tape right off. I forcefully shut the tailgate and let it sit for a day or so to stretch/form this rubber cover and it's been great ever since. That was 7 months ago, and there is NO sign of the tape coming loose."

Average quality but won't fit my trucks,

"I have to admit, I not need to return many items from Cabelas.
However, I did return these items back to Cabelas.
The reason is, I have (2) Ford F250's and (1) GMC 4 wheel drive pickups.
These tailgate gap covers were too narroow to cover any of the tail gate gaps that I have. It was supposed to be a universal fit. But, they don't fit Ford or Chevy's well enough to install."

"I purchased the Gap Cover in June. I waited this long to review the product because I'm still trying to get it stay on. When it is adhered on it does work well, but again the problem is it won't stay adhered to. I followed the directions about cleaning. I have spent as much on adhesives and glues as I originally did on the Gap Cover. The prblem is not the pickup surface as the adhesives stay adheered to this. The problem is the rubber material of the Gap Cover itself as the adhesive will not stay adhered to it. Have now reverted to a $1.50 tube of super glue and so far it has stayed in place. The concept of this product is good but the practical application is not.

"I COMPARED THE ROK BLOK TO THE TAILGATE OPENING OF THE '02, '05 & '08 DODGE RAMS - IT IS TOO NARROW TO FIT ANY OF THEM. ALSO, THE ADHESIVE STRIP DOWN EACH SIDE OF THE ROK BLOK APPEARS TO BE TOO SMALL TO POSSESS ANY DURABILITY."

"It installed fairly easy but I could not close the tailgate after. This is on a 2007 Tundra with the "assist" lift tailgate and I didn't want to force it closed messing with the resistance etc. I pulled it off immediately. You may be able to close other tailgates but the clearance is too tight on my truck. Could not use the product."

"I have purchased 2 of these gap covers and to no avail have they worked. They are on their way back. They jam up when you close the tailgate. They also come unglued. I think it is a great idea but for it to work right you would have to drill and fasten it with screws.I wish it would have worked but it just doesn't. Maybe the company should try larger trim tape for a stronger adhesion to the truck. I would not recommend this product."
