never thought about my feet, just the front sight,

"I just got back from the desert outside of Las Vegas Nevada.
I took a four day defensive handgun course and a 1 day CCW course at Front Sight. The experience was truly amazing. It was between 98 and 106 every day. I wore the Active Trail Vented Hikers all five days and I never had to worry about my feet, just the front sight of my handgun. We had to walk to other range areas and go through tactics which kept me on the move. My feet stayed comfortable all day long. I brought other shoes to wear in case these new Hikers did not get the job done. These were all I wore for the entire trip. I will be taking a 47 hour armed guard course back home. I will be using these Hikers for my range work even though it will be much cooler. I even wear them around the house and on trips to town. My wife even likes the way they look.
I recomend these Hikers to everyone. At the price I doubt you can find a better shoe for hot or warm weather when you are on the go."

Very nice and supportive shoe, wear them all the time. I walk a friends' Pit Bull daily on the trails we have here, light on your feet, supportive and they don't weigh you down."

"Good shoes, fairly comfortable but traction is less than expected on wet surfaces. Shoe strings are very hard to snug all the way along the shoe. I would suggest changing them to a different string"

"As a general walking shoe it is top notch. I walk every day for at least 35 minutes, and have used other excellant brand walking shoes made by either New Balance or Asics. I would say that the Cabelas's Active Trail Vented Hiker may even be better than much more expensive brand shoes. I ordered one size larger than my normal shoe size and inserted the thinner Spenco sole inserts into the shoe along with Spenco's heel counter. The results being about the best walking shoe I have ever had. The shoes are comfortable, stable for walking on any surface, fairly light weight, and good lookiing. After purchasing my first pair and using them, I purchased a second pair at the great Bargain Basement price. I didn't purchase these shoes for the purpose of real active outdoor hiking and really cannot evaluate them for such."

"These were on sale at a very reasonable price. They deserve a five star rating at that price. They are comfortable and fit well and look good. Soles don't pick up rocks and have adequate traction. Cool mesh for summer works fine. What more can you ask for ?"

The fit is great, the shoes are very comfortable in warmer weather and also give excellent traction on some of the slippery trails and rocks I hike across. "A few days after receiving my pair of Active Trail Vented Hikers, I gave them a real test. I wore them on our treks in the New Mexico mountains searching for petroglyphs and Indian rock art. The shoes were very comfortable without any breaking in. They were cool because of the flow thru webbing. The soles gave great traction on the rocks and in the sand. Overall, I love the shoes and recommend them as a great outdoors shoe."
