"I don't have anything negative to say about using this power in my reloads as they all perform well. In time, I might have a different opinion but for now, I would recommend and buy this powder again."

Less mess, better performance,
September 1, 2009
By SSGDave
from Tolleson, AZ

"Always used 748, 760 for my rifles because it fouls less and performs with lower pressures and higher velocities, while being versatile amongst the calibers i shoot (8 different calibers) Especially with 5.56mm/.223, Win748 fouls the gas system the least, and i'd trust this powder before any and all others. 760 works Best for the M1 Garand, with lower than standard pressure and 50-100FPS higher velocity when loaded with a L-R magnum primer. It's also Very good in the M70 300 WM-got coyotes out beyond 900m with the 165gr Sierra BTHP backed by 760 and a mag primer-try it. You'll probably enjoy the performance as much as I do. Just remember to hold it tight-that 300Wm usually lets me know if i slip and hold it too loose-LOL."

Winchester Powder,
July 22, 2009
By Mike338
from Seattle
|
"I have had very good results using W-231 for my 45ACP and my 45 LC loads. It is consistent and measures well in my Dillon 550.
I also have had good results with the W-748 in my AR-15 with 69gr MatchKing bullets.
As long as I can continue to find these powders somewhere I will keep using them."

A great powder!,
June 16, 2009
By DrZee
from Albuquerque, NM
|
"I get great, 0.25-inch, 100-yard groups from my Savage Model 12 (and other .223s that I own) using this powder. The Savage particularly likes 25.4 grains of 748, a Remington 7-1/2 primer, a 55-gr Hornady spire point w/cannelure, all packed into a Winchester case. But before you try this load, confirm for yourself that it is safe in the Hornady reloading manual."

"I have been using the win. 296 powder for at least 20 years now for my 44 mag reloading and have not found anything that compares to its performance. Cabelas came thru with a backorder for me and I'm a happy reloader again. Cabelas is a 1st class outfit. You have my dedicated business!

Winchester Super Field,
March 22, 2009
By Jaredreloader
from UT
|
"I started using this powder based on an article called reloading 9mm for accuracy in a handgun magazine. It meters well through my powder measure and is extremely consistent, which has given me better accuracy over other powders I have tried for 9mm. It is sometimes difficult to find reloading data for this powder in the manuals. But, if you contact Winchester they have teamed up with a couple other powder companies to create a website containing reloading data for just about any caliber you can imagine."

Winchester Ball Powders,
January 13, 2008
By ChrisBuchananGa
from Ga.
|
"I have been loading Winchester brand powders for years. The ball shape makes metering very accurate. I always try to find a load combination using Winchester powder due to it's excellent metering characteristics and very clean burn. I, unlike others have never seen the need for magnum primers in standard cartridges using ball type powder. W296 is simply the best all around magnum handgun powder I've ever used. W748 is second to none in the 223rem. I'm a very satisfied customer."
