Great Range Finder,
January 19, 2010

"For the money you can't go wrong with the Nikon 550. If you wanted to you could buy the Nikon 550 rifle hunter for roughly 80 dollars more. The difference is that the rifle hunter has ARC (this one doesn't) and the rifle hunter measures yards with .1 of a yard were as this one will read as .5 of a yard.
I really like the scan feature on this one. You can hold down the range button and scan over something in the distance. When you see a large jump in the range you know you have hit your intended target.
Great product can't go wrong!"

Does what it should,
November 27, 2009

"I used this during MI's 09 rifle season. Worked well in my applications; range trees to for trajectories.
Rugged and felt durable. Used in some pretty cruddy weather without fogging.
Simple operations: point, shoot, read range. Hold the button down to range and scan. Wished it was backlit, but really, if it isn't light enough to shoot, I really don't need to shoot. Someone else may, I don't. I guess the backlight would be more of a novelty for me and I didn't see it as essential to operations.
It's simple, effective, and accurate from what I can tell, but I am only taking short shots, 150 yds and less. I couldn't find anything wrong with it for it's intended purposes."

Nikon Team Realtree 550 Laser Rangefinder,
November 18, 2009
By PaulV123

"What a great rangefinder. I took a trip to Montana and just got back at the beggining of November. This rangefinder was critical in setting up distances. I was able to put myself right on target with a nice mule deer by using it. I actually had it reading distances beyond 550 yds. It did everything I needed and could take a beating on horseback. It did not fog at high elevations. It was worth the money and it proves you don't have to spend $1000. I use it in Wisconsin for bow hunting also. Set up distances in my tree stand. Absolutely simple to use. All you have to do is press the back botton and it turns on and then reads on the second squeeze. Shuts off automatically so your not burning up batteries. I bought mine in late summer and I have not needed to change from the original battery it came with yet. I only cleaned the lense once with a generic anti-fog product and have never had any problems where I couldn't see. Now everyone wants to borrow it."

Nikon fan for life,
August 27, 2009

"I can't say enough great things about this range finder. First off all, I use all Nikon optics. Whenever I'm in the process of researching/purchasing a new optical device, I always come back to Nikon because of their combination of value, performance, quality, and warranty coverage. I have a Monarch, 2 Buckmasters rifle scopes, some binos, and now this rangefinder. All are awesome.
The rangefinder works perfectly. The controls are intuitive and do exactly what they're supposed to. This thing does indeed rang out to 550 yards. So far, I've only needed 400-500. However, I probably wouldn't ethically take a shot that far unless it was a prairie dog or something.
My wife got me this. Yeah, she got me the binos too without being hinted at or asked. Seriously! What can I say - she's an awesome girl.
One other thing I failed to mention is that contrary to what some other people said, this thing can range at very specific targets. I ranged a street lamp (the bulb cover) from several hundred yards. You'll need an adequate rest, but you'll need that for any rangefinder.
Anyway, this thing can't be beat for the price. Nikon rules."

Laser Rangefinder,
April 20, 2009
By KYhunter71

"I bought a product I would use and as an avid hunter, I would not (practically) shoot an animal any further than 550 yards or need to. I would use the range in timber and in the woods. I hunt deer and elk. This is an amazing rangefinder for the value. Right out of the box you can use this without instructions. I can't wait to use this product this year when I go Elk hunting in Idaho. Look for the deals Cabela's have and you can get this at a good price."

Great Rangefinder,

"I received this rangefinder after purchasing a Ten Point X- Bow from Cabelas. This is a very nice tool. This is my first rangefinder and I was very impressed. I could not believe how far I was off when judging yardage. It is very easy to use, extremely accurate and compact. I will not go into the field to hunt or target shooting without it!"

Dissapointed,
November 4, 2008
By 007lobo

"I ordered the Nikon thinking it would be a better brand. It arrived just in time for my hunt. I eagerly tested it the day before my hunt and discoved that it didn't work! It would only measure up to 30-40 yards and only with a large target. Sadly, I wasn't able to use it and have returned it."
