"I live I RI I have no use for anything over 500 yards,so I got Nikon 550 pro,so far I've rich the distance of 791 yards ,works in the rain,what's nice about it has continuous mode,its very help full when you shut tru the brash you can move left and right,just to past the tiny branches,to be able to read the objects you are aiming at,super clear and super fast."

"Had this model for several years, battery life is excellent, seems to be very accurate. Helped me make several shots that I might have otherwise misjudged...I have missed a couple shots where I left it in the truck. Moral of the story, this is required equipment for successful bowhunting. Works great on our western antelope/deer/elk rifle trips as well. I can get readings out to nearly 400 yards when necessary. Thanks to Nikon for making a good product at a good price."

"just got back from antalope. the pro staff works from just can see to just almost can't. ranged them at 368 yards with the touch of the finger. better than my eye. good luck !!!"

"After reading some of the reviews on this product I was concerned about clarity and range performance, but since I have had excellent performance and good experience with all other Nikon optics, I ordered and used this rangefinder during this year's Colorado black powder elk season and was not disapointed - the range was as advertised and it picks up all objects quickly and accuratly - after reading the instructions and making the proper adjustments the optics are clear out to its functional distance. The "water proof" feature got a workout this season and is a necessary feature. Great product for the money."

"I purchased this after mis-judging a few longer range shots that I estimated at a shorter distance. I don't like to have too many gadgets, but after shooting low at a buck within range, thought this might be handy to range shots that I might take when in different stands. It's easy to use and accurate, though it does not adjust for elevation. I took it out to a stand and ranged shots at the base of the tree, then from elevated position. It ranged 1.5 yards short at 20 yards at 20' elevation compared to at the base. Not that that is much, but at longer yardage, something to beware of, particularly for archery."

"I have used my Prostaff 550 several times and it works better than most of my friends more expensive brand rangefinders. Ranges anything in any weather and even works in conditions the manufacturer says it wont."

"I bought it because it has 6x power instead of 4x like my old one. so I do not carry binoculars just the rangefinder.
Had to return the first one. The first one had some sort of coating problem. There was a thicker coating in one area that looked like a circular smudge but I think the coating was too think & dried causing the circular image. I returned the rangefinder and the second one is working fine so far.
Used for archery hunting so the long distance does not matter to me, measures out to 400yds without problem.
Does not work for less than 15 yards
I like the constant mode when you just hold the button down and move to a different target. You don't have to wait if there is more than one target so it is faster to get a reading
Still waiting to find out if it is fog proof."

"This is my first rangefinder which I chose due to its high rating from the reviews on cabelas. I have used it when shooting my bow out to 50 yards. I've gotten readings on deer out to 300 yards which can be difficult without magnification. I haven't tried to adjust the magnification on it, but you really need more magnification than it came with at 250 yards or more. I'm assuming the magnification can be adjusted, but I haven't had time to mess with it. This is definitely great for bow and gun hunters needing close range readings for bow and mid-range for shotgun or muzzleloaders."

"The Nikon 550 Rangefinder is another great product by this company. It's easy to use, and I could not believe how much I was off on my distances greater than 30 yards when shooting my bow. If you don't have a rangefinder yet, this is a great one to start with. You won't find a product like this at a price this affordable."

"I haven't had the chance to hunt with my rangefinder yet but what limited use I've had with it is reassuring. It seems accurate and fast. I'll be using it to set up my firing range for zeroing my guns before the season begins. I'll write a follow up if something comes up other than it working as it should."
