Looking down a bore,

"This little tool is very fiddley to use. However, with perseverence, it does provide some additional information about the condition of a barrel. It has limited depth of field and a decided learning curve to recognise what you are seeing in the dim light available when looking down the bore from the muzzle.
Trying to look at the breech end of a barrel is even more difficult but it is possible to obtain some limited information about rifeling and throat condition. A few minor changes could result in a significant increase in usability. Inparticular, if the view was at 45 or 75 degrees to the bore it would be easier to interpert what you are seeing. To sum things up this is an inexpensive tool, it is not a replacement for a $700 bore scope; you get what you pay for."

"I returned the one I ordered for refund. Looking through the eyepiece aided by a bore light I couldn't detect any evidence of seeing anything more that a view of the bore scope's tube interior and nothing resembling part of the rifle's bore or rifling was visible."

"After a little playing around to discover how it works, I found that the bore scope was a handy little device ... especially for the price! The reason the I didn't give it 5 stars was the limited length of bore that can be seen with this 14" device. Granted that barrel breaches are accessible on some rifles, but that is not the case on my bolt action units. Therefore, the only portion of the bore that I could observe was the 14" from the muzzle, which in reality gave me information that I wanted. Now if the mfg could only make the unit focusable at 24 to 26" I could see from muzzle to chamber!! Great tool for short barrels, or for barrels where the breach is readily accessible, or just checking from the muzzle the condition of the front part of your bore."

Borescope works just great,

"Our family are all shooters with many guns. My brother and husband kidded me by saying their guns were perfectly clean and needed no borescope inspection but after checking several guns with this little borescope they were amazed at what hard crud was plastered into their rifling. One 30-06 rifle showed serious damage in the chamber and throat. Others showed glassy hard material in the rifling near the breech end. Heavy cleaning removed the built up fouling and the borescope proved it.
One brand new unfired pistol is going back to the dealer because we now see the rifling has a bad spot.
Best money we have spent on gun maintenance. Easy to use once you get the eyepiece focused for your eye and you also have to get a proper amount of light into the opposite end of the barrel. I use a small penlight.
I plan to buy another borescope and ship it to my dad who lives in Denver as a Fathers Day present. He has lots of guns which will need to be inspected.
I would recommend this great little borescope to any gun owner who cannot afford the illuminated type selling for over $500.

Bore Scope is slightly more than just a toy.,

"It seemed not much more than just a toy as it lacks quality, but I found it does work after playing around and finally getting the knack of using it. Yes dirt or lack of dirt and even oil can be seen in the bore but not very clearly. Also it is too short to see much at the chamber end which is what I really want to see. Will I use it in the future? Yes, probably. After using it, would I buy it? No!"

"It works ok. It is just hard to see any detail of the bore with it. Plus the length of it comes up a bit short. Seeing down the muzzle end works fine, but when you try and look thru the breach end of a scoped bolt action rifle, it barely reaches inside the chamber. So it can be really hard to see the throat of a typical scoped bolt action rifle.
For the price though you cant complain to much."

Low cost borescope,

"Excellent value and useful tool for a low price compared to over $700 for conventional borescopes.
It is adjustable for focal point and I was able to obtain a clear inspection in my .22 rifles as well as a .30 and .50 cal rifle plus a 12 ga. shotgun . Also got a nice view into the chamber.
It focuses about 5" from end of the tube so to see the chamber and leade clearly I had to hold the tube 4-5 inches behind the chamber. Good to have the gun solid in a vise or steady support. Need to have good light entering the barrel from other end. You need both hands free to properly hold and focus and move the borescope down through the barrel slowly. Two friends have ordered for themselves after using mine.

"Not bad for an inexpensive bore scope. As stated you need a light source at the other end. The scope's focus can be adjusted out to about 5 inches from the end, you can also adjust the focus in so you can inspect a 22 lr chamber. It would be nice if there was a lock for the focus adjustment, it's a little on the loose side."
