automatically adjusted by two nitrogen gas actuators,
so absolutely no operator adjustment is needed while motoring. The

the stern of the boat by holding the trim plates down
during acceleration. As the boat speed increases, the
water pressure exceeds the actuator load rating and
the trim plates begin to move upward until horizontal
with the bottom of the boat. As the boat speed decreases,
the water pressure decreases and the trim plates move
down to optimize the lift, which keeps the boat on plane. The
actuators have no internal metal springs and are
completely regulated by nitrogen gas pressure. The
internal valve system dampens the trim plate
movement, which eliminates any instant reaction to
minor water pressure variances. Smart Tabs provide
smooth and undetectable reaction to boat speed. Simple installation with common hand tools. Includes

"My boat would not plane out. I put on the trim tabs and it could not plane out fast enough. I used them for about 30 minutes and by boat blew up. I took off the trim tabs and am selling my boat. I will put the trim tabs on my next boat first thing. They also improved the handling of the boat. I was very happy with them. Randy"

"Mounted on a 2008 14.5 Gregor aluminum with a 20 hp Honda L/S. Top speed 25mph. The materials are durable composite and/or stainless steel. Simple to install with minimal tools. Straightforward instructions. I have had those cavitation plate mounted devices and they do get the boat up on plane faster. However, at WOT the handling of the boat was a bit scarry, with excessive chine walk. I installed the Smart Tabs with the optional plate retractor kits that allow me to manually lower them when under way or to slow my trolling speed. I put them up when I want a faster trolling speed, beaching the boat or trailering. I have had these on for a few months now with a dozen or so outings. Handling has definitely improved...even my critical fishing partner noticed. It used to take me about 10-12 seconds to get the boat on plane at 16 mph. Now it takes me 3-5 seconds and less than 9 mph. The ride is noticeably more stable, as the hull is planing on top of the water at much lower speed instead of trying to plow through it....and virtually no bow rise gives me way better visibility. I also like that the back end does not dig in as much when I make hard turns. Lastly, the boat settles down more smoothly when I come to an abrupt stop from WOT. Note* When I first installed these, my top speed was reduced by 2 mph on the gps. I contacted the manufacturer by phone and they were very helpful. A simple adjustment of the retractor plate (one bolt each side) and my WOT is now actually 1.5-2.5 mph better than before the install. Great product, simple to install, works as advertised."

"These things really work! Although recommended for larger boats, I have installed them on a 12' and a 14' flat bottom jon boats. Both boats immediately jump up onto plane. Handling is much improved. The tabs hold both boats firmly in the ark of sharp turns. Both boats track straight as an aircraft carrier. One other thing... I'm only using a 9.9 Honda engine. These things turned my little boats into little rocket sleds. Use less gas and get the most out of fewer horsepower!"

"I have 14 ft outboard boat which tended to porpoise when more than 2 onboard. With this trim tabs - which cost just a bit over hundred bucks(!) - now it is comfortably stable. Easy to assemble - like 15 minutes, but you will need seal to fix the screws - it does not go with the unit. Also with this tabs you have to be careful while mooring and on a trailer"

"You should be able to get the boat to idle at about 2.0 MPH or less.
Side to side stability would only improve when the boat is under way - call the manufacturer for customer help and service."

"the tabs slow the boat down only to 3/4 mph, good enough for most trolling, however when weather is windy the motor needs to be at slowest idle which does not provide directional stability.
there are times when slower trolling is required. also my boat has 17 1/2 degree deadrise and tends to heal over to one side or the other when on plane. i had hoped to control this tendancy with these trim tabs. they did not work when i had a passenger riding with me, but worked when riding alone, i try to shift gear around to help trim. what do i do with a passenger? any ideas?"
