Action Too Heavy,August 27, 2009
By CatchAllFishfrom Albuquerque, NM
"I recently purchased the 6'-6" Medium Light action travel rod. It appears to be a well made, quality rod, but I wanted this particular rod to be for Crappies, Panfish, and maybe Walleyes. The action on this rod is definitely NOT medium light. It is even a little too stiff to even call it medium, it is more to the medium heavy side. I have fished with it and it has good sensitivity, a smooth action, and nice feel to fish with. All in all a quality rod, but BUYER BEWARE about the weight of the action, this is not at all what I wanted to buy. If I had wanted a medium heavy rod I would have bought one."

EXCELLENT ROD,August 11, 2009
By UZMATIfrom Castro Valley, CA
"Recently picked up this ML 6'6" pack rod and I am glad I did. The first thing I noticed when I put it together was the beautiful cross design and color of the rod. I was looking for something unique. Stunning in the sun light. Once together you could feel the action was just right. I teamed the rod up with the new Shakespear Deceiver reel and Berkeley Tri-color 6# line. The pefect combo as I found. Action was great. Rod felt like a one piece and fish on felt great. Caught 20+ Rainbows & Browns the biggest being 17" in rough white water. The rod did all the work. Thanks Cabela's"

fish eagle II pack rod,August 3, 2009
By easternshoreMDfrom eastern shore of MD
"Got the rod for inshore fishing during a trip to the Virgin Islands. Will also prove to be very handy for trips to the moutains, out west, canoeing and cayaking in the marshes of the Chesapeake. Excellent materials in the handle, guides, blank, etc. Its a very attractive, sturdy, sensitive, well balanced rod. Definitely the best pack rod i've had. (None of my previous inferior pack rods have ever lasted beyond their inaugural trip). Comes in a VERY sturdy rod tube that will take any punishment from any airline. My only minor complaints are that the guide closest to the reel is a bit small and the green blank color is not my favorite."

Cabela's Fish Eagle !! Spinning Pack Rods,July 20, 2009
By spinebackrockfishfrom Kansas
"After fishing Southeast Alaska for a week in both light saltwater and freshwater rivers for Salmon and other game fish, the rods performed very well, good action and plenty of backbone to turn the fish. We will probably purchase two additional rods in the 7'0 length for casting from a boat. I would recommend this item."

Bone fishin,July 14, 2009
By flatsfriendfrom NOVA
"I took this rod to Ascension Bay in Mexico. I like to travel light and not check bags. It was compact and fit in my carry on with no problems. The action on this rod was great I would compare it to most two piece rods of the same price. It handles a 4 1/2 lb bone fish with no problem. The guide I used rented rods, I am glad I brought this one with me, it was much better then his rentals. I gave it 4 out of 5 as the handle where the reel mounts could be more comfortable. I am thinking about buying the med heavy for Snook fishing."

By jgray10from Northern California, north of Sacramento
"I used the Fish Eagle II Spinning Pack Rod during a recent trip to San Diego. It fit perfectly inside my suitcase. Once assembled, it felt like a one-piece rod. Caught barracuda, halibut, sand bass and mackerel in Mission Bay on artificial lures (bait tail plastics)."

"I took my Fish Eagle II in my carry on to fish for chinhooks in Puget Sound. It performed flawlessly--hard to tell it broke down into 20" pieces. Lots of compliments on the prismatic rod blank and cork. Danny"

Just what I was looking for,December 30, 2008
By yellowsnowfrom Oahu, Hawaii
"This is my first pack rod and I was buying it sight unseen. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the rod, put it together and found that it had a great action and overall feel to it. I guess I should've bought the case too, but I'll just use a piece of pvc pipe for now. BTW, I have the 6' ML spinning rod."

love the pole,September 22, 2008
By dhinesfrom los angeles, ca / calexico, ca
"have used it on two seperate occasions and it is everything i have expected. paired with my ZX 2000 spin reel, i love the combo. my only complaint is that cabelas doesn't offer this pole in their rod/reel combo area (meaning i had to buy the rod and reel seperate and pay a little bit extra) . . . hence the reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5."

Elegant pack fishing rod,August 18, 2008
By SmallPaulfrom TN
"This 4 piece fishing rod has excellent action and the finish is quite elegant. You will look good while holding this one. There are less expensive pack rods available. Also some pack rods are in more pieces allowing for a shorter package."

Great rod for air travel!,May 5, 2008
By Powderhornfrom wooded outskirts of Concord, New Hampshire
"Business and continuing education require me to travel by air from time to time, and I always organize my routes and destinations to include fishing opportunities. For years I only carried a 4-piece fly rod for this purpose, but borrowed my son's combination baitcating / spinning pack rod for a winter trip to the Southeast. I really loved the added flexibility of having all three methods available, so decided to get my own 4-piece baitcasting and spinning pack rods when I returned (already had the reels on hand) . I have now used both and am very pleased with their performance on large mouth and white bass (close cousin of the striper) on my last trip down to North Carolina. I bought the travel case, too, which straps handily to my carry-on luggage...making it a breeze going through the security checks at airports. For the winter trip I had packed my son's rod right in the middle of my suitcase cradled in socks and t-shirts. This, unfortunately, made the security folks nervous, so they pulled me aside and unpacked my entire suitcase for a closer look. I almost missed my connecting flight!"
