Great Reel for the $$,

"I bought two of these reels in the winter for bass fishing applications took them steelhead fishing up at erie broke through the ice to get in the water completly submerged the reel in the water then started fishing hooked and landed a 10lb steelie and the drag worked great now i use them on my flipping sticks and jig rods would like to see them in a 5.1 gear ratio for cranks tho"

"Good reel for the money,I used mine to catch a nice 26" northern;however to prevent backlashes you MUST readjust the spool tension each time you change lure types or weights! I have mine mounted on a Cabelas 7' MH ProGuide rod and get great casting distance with 12lb co-polymer line."

"First Non Abu bait caster (20 Abus). Seems well built and has a good drag. Been using it for topwater speckled trout fishing and is holding up to saltwater use"

"Casts like a dream. UPS showed up. I gave it the spool spin test, went and popped a brew came back and it was still spinning (okay, not quite) I put it on a rod and tied on a casting plug. Went out front and gave it a flip and it ended up across the street. So. . . I took it fishing. Casted a finesse rig with it and some crank baits. So far so good. No retrieve issues and it's smooth as silk. Now it just has to stand the test of time. Oh yea, got see how the drag works with anything bigger than the 2 -2.5 pound fish I was catching."

A great reel at a great price,

"I loved this reel. I searched and searched for something for my first low-profile baitcaster. Then after recommendations from many people, I decided on this one. Set the backlash controls right and you wont have one problem. I can get 60 feet out of this reel using a 1/6 ounce lure and much much more with a 1/4 ounce. The drag on this reel is good but amazing for this price. Ive caught several fish over 20" and this thing handles them with ease. Havent had any problems with adjusting the dial accidentally and all i ever do is palm my reel. It feels comfortable in my hand and i can fish it all day without tiring."

"Bought this reel with the intent of using it for bass fishing. Have had a hard time casting it as it seems to tangle easily. Much more so than other casting reels I have. I've changed line and it still doesn't seem to make much difference."

"This reel was very smooth and was able to make the long distance castes with ease and accuracy. I had one problem though. The side plate fell of in the middle of a striper boil and sunk to the bottom of Lake Powell. This was my first attempt at a bait caster and I am impressed with bait casters as a whole. However I will replace this one with a different brand."

"I have two of these reels. Each of them are about 2 years old. I had to send one of them back recently because it blew a bearing. Cabela's exchanged it for a new one with no hassles. The other one is still working fine and it has received a lot more use than the one I had to send back! It is a great reel for a good price - especially on sale."

"I bought two of these reels and one year after i bought them they have had an issue with the gears grinding during the cast. It just so happened to happen after one year of use on both reels, right after there exchange warranty expires. The drag on these reels is also very weak so if you want to catch big fish you will have troubles keeping them out of the weeds and stumps"

"I purchased this reel a couple of years ago while I was a novice baitcaster. I now have about seven baitcaster reels and although this one was not the cheapest it certainly can cast further than any of the others. It has a smooth drag and adjustable braking system. I have others with a combine centrifugal and magnetic brake but I virtually never touch the centrifugal brake otherwise I end up with a professional overcast (birds nest). I would definitely recommend this reel which is equally as durable if not more so than the ones costing twice as much and made by the same original manufacturer but without cabelas name on it. I have name brand reels from the other major fishing store chain with their signature namesake model but I am sorry to say they may look nicer but they can cast as far. Go with the Da... I mean Cabelas Prodigy!"

"I now have 3 of these reels. For the money they are the smoothest reels I own. Both in the casting and reeling they are just as smooth and reliable as a much higher priced casting reel. Light and strong. I highly recommend this reel.
I hope they will offer it in different speed retrieves in the future."
