The very first products Cabela's offered in 1961 were for fly-fishermen, and this vest shows that our commitment to excellence in fly-fishing gear has not wavered since day one. We constructed the shell of lightweight, durable and fast-drying 100% nylon ripstop. A neoprene collar yoke and padded spacer-mesh shoulders comfortably distribute the weight of a fully loaded vest and reduce fatigue during those all-day fishing excursions. Pocket space is abundant with places for up to four large and two medium fly boxes for those who want every weapon in their arsenal close at hand. There are also four front pockets for tippet spools, two additional chest pockets, three interior pockets and a large, rear zippered pocket. Removable compression straps let you take along extra clothing layers and rainwear in case the weather turns on you. The vest is cut in a shorter length for use in deeper waters. Buckle front closure adds security and prevents shifting. We based the design of this vest on input from fly-fishermen who have spent a lot of time on the water, and it's been extensively tested by our staff of experts. That's why we can say with confidence it is the fly vest that every discriminating fly-fisherman should own. Imported. A Cabela's Exclusive.

Color: Woodland.

Cabela's PackRat™ Fly Vest,September 1, 2009
By Bojibobfrom Atlanta, GA
"This is a very nice vest. I actually don't fish but plan on using this to carry misc. gear on a Canoe Trip in Canada. The vest appears to be well stiched with good zippers and a lot of pockets for storing things for people on the move."

PackRat fly vest,July 26, 2009
By MrGoodfrom Washington State
"I've been using my PackRat vest for about a month. It fits my needs very well with plenty of pockets plus the straps on the back to secure rain gear. It is sized a little bit large but that will probably work out fine during winter fishing when I'll be wearing more clothing under it. All in all a good purchase."

Best Vest I've Ever Used,June 1, 2009
By Arekayfrom Connecticut
"I have tried many vests and tackle systems in the 45 years of fly fishing. I have a closet full of vests, frontpack/backpack systems as well as over-the-shoulder side bags. The PackRat vest is by far the best system I've used to carry my fly gear. The many varied sized pockets, both inside and out, gives you ample room for all types and sizes of gear, and it's "shorty" high cut design keeps to keep your gear out of the water when your deep wading. It also has many places to attach zingers and clips, and is a good color that won't spook weary trout.
I especially like the pockets on the back that allow you to store spare reel spools or extra clothing for when the weather changes. The straps on the back that allow you to attach your rain gear is very well thought out. After having spent hundreds of dollars trying out different systems to hold my fly gear, I eventually ended up finding this one the best. It is the best fly fishing vest I've used..."

"Vest fits very well and comfortably. I like the amount of pockets so far. Have only used when fishing on the lake, but expect it to meet my needs easily when it comes to fly fishing this summer."

...Borderline Amazing!!!!!,April 30, 2009
By StreamerMonkey
"I just recieved this vest as a gift for my birthday, and am amazed at it's quality. This vest is amazing. It has practically unlimited pockets--inside and out, front and back, that can all hold tons of gear. However, the only thing this vest lacks is a place to hold your floatant, and the strap could be smaller. Besides that, this vest is out of this world. It has everything, I mean everything that a fly fisherman wants. I would buy this again and again if I didn't have it already!!!Great product!!!"

Packrat Flyvest,July 22, 2008
By JPsFliesfrom CT
"Alot of pockets for all the gear you need for the day on the stream. Lower pockets needs a stronger velcro closure for heavier equipment other wise pockets perform well. Very comfortable and light weight, Breathable on a warm day. Back compartments very useful."

Very Good Fly Vest,June 9, 2008
By JSA1from AZ, CO, Montana
"Used the Pack Rat for a 4 day fish in Montana and was very pleased. Easy to get into and out of , Lots of pockets, good front closure ( the strap could have been shorter ), light weight but sturdy, large pockets for plenty of fly boxes, zippers slide well, and strong velcrow closures make this a winner."

Simply Awesome.,March 21, 2008
By Striperflyfrom Atlanta, GA
"The thing that seperates this vest from others is its bullet-proof construction. All vest have pockets and fly patches, but I had a size 16 hook lodge in this vest and it took 10 minutes to get it out. The vest would not tear or rip to release the hook. Very light and comfy as well."
