    battery storage, October 14, 2009
    By ratltrapp

"the battery fits under the monitor, and is seperated by the sheet with velcro on each end, (provided) this also acts as a tilt to view the monitor at a good angle, this is a good unit, same camera(sony) as marcum, (which was just bought out in june) aqua view is out of business, they might have a buyer, panning cameras are not perfected yet, so dont get excited, and dont buy one, yet.went through three last year, went back to the cabelas 7 inch angler. these cameras are mostly made for ice fishing, and out of the sunlight, like in a clam or similar, have fun........."

    Nice Camera, September 19, 2009
    By EdKi from Richmond, VA

"This is a nice unit for the money. It takes some time playing with the settings and stuff to get the best picture. The case and built in sun shield are a little hard to use and fold up for storage. All in all a nice setup."

Decent camera but not for murky water, September 11, 2009
    By fishercat from MA

"This camera works pretty well as long as you don't use it in murky or stained water.
If the water is stained/murky you need to bump into the fish in order to see them but in clear water it works really well.

This camera could also be used as a security camera or even to spy on the wildlife at night because the infra red LEDs allow it to work in total darkness.

    Underwater camera, September 2, 2009
By Ahrensjim from Jersey City NJ

"I work on a tug boat and we recently had problems with a pump loosing suction, our fear was a strainer on the bottom of the boat had fallen off and the pump suction filled with debris. Divers charge a lot so I bought the camera and hooked it up to some aluminum tubing and was able to put it under the boat and verify that the suction strainer was still in place, we also were able to inspect our propellers and verify that they had some pretty big dents in them which was causing some vibration. This can be a good tool for boat owners or anyone wishing to inspect things under water."

ONE MORE THING TO ADD TO MY REVIEW, August 14, 2009
    By NorCalFishermen from california

"one more thing id like to add to my review. while i wasnt happy with the camera setup, i did notice in the reviews there are alot of people complaining about the battery setup, and that it doesnt have a place, and its a pain to lug around. you are wrong, it does have a place. inside the bag, under the monitor, there is a small seperator. your battery does right under the monitor , in the bag. very conveinient, making the system completely portable, but a pain to have to open the bag to unplug the battery each time."

"I bought this camera as a gift for my 14 year old whom LOVES fishing. He has used it a handfull of times and states it works great. He has not read up on recording or taking pictures yet. I'm sure that is next.

Great buy for the Money, August 3, 2009
By MOMMOM60 from Mt. Holly ,New Jersey

"Bought the 7 inch model for walleye fishing could not believe the sharpness of the picture. Great help in checking the area out for fish when the fish finder would locate some. Was also good for locating better bottom area to fish. Kept the Grand Son's busy too. Easy to set up and use."

    5.5" Underwater Camera, July 3, 2009
    By chevyjam2001 from Thumb, Michigan

"Unbeatable value for the price. I found visibility of the monitor in the bright sun to be adequate. Maybe not perfect but still good nough to see what the camera was pointing at. I put the battery in the compartment under the monitor for a very compact and portable unit. Once again Cabelas has exceeded my expectations."

    Underwater Camera, June 18, 2009
    By 98f250 from Decatur, MI

"I'm guessing the camera has a fixed focal length. That means (for you) that objects only within a certain distance - maybe 1-3 feet, are sharp and clear. So, if you're looking for a great depth of field, spend $10K on a professional model. TV wanted to slip out of the case - 20 cents of Velcro fixed that. That limitation aside, this gizmo is GREAT! Not too heavy or bulky, cable is marked for depth, sunshade works well. My finder showed nice marks at 35' - thought they were walleyes, dropped the camera and NOPE - school of 4" 'gills :-(
Got it (7" model) on sale. Great value, even at full price. Can't wait for ice, now. I'd recommend to anyone.

    Angler's Camera, June 17, 2009
    By Nylonica from NY

"A buddy of mine showed me his Marcum and I was amazed. I did not want to spend the money for the Marcum and he said if it was him and he had to do it again, he'd buy the Cabela's. I then bought the Cabela's and it shows just as well as the Marcum for way less$$. Pretty impressive camera ability. Can't believe this type of quality for the $$."

fun for kids, not for serious., June 16, 2009
By mrcamp from Bay Area, California

"Great toy for the kids at the price. Mr. Cousteau would not be happy with it at all. The kids had a ball watching their bait and lures go by the camera waiting for "the Big One" to be following.
Monitor is quite difficult to see with any sunlight around, definately need a hood over it to see in the daytime.

Not the best, June 9, 2009
    By Fisherman24

"I had a lot of trouble with the camera. Using it in lakes or ponds or larger water ways the water needs to be very clear. My LED light didn't work which didn't help at all. Also, the battery sits outside of the unit so its hard to move around. Plus it is very heavy! I'm sure if you live in an area where the water is clear most of the time, then it would be worth it."

Amazing Value and Well Built, April 21, 2009
By CaptainJono from New Bedford MA

"Amazing and well packaged underwater video camera. For the price you could not get a better product. The case is quality, the camera is well made, has great viewing and the monitor, while small, is plenty for my uses. When not in use it is neatly stowed in the well made carry bag. I use this on my 80' commercial ferry and save hundreds of $ everytime I check the props for lines or other problems without needing a diver. I have used it in dark voids on my ferry to check welds and the infrared lights make it great to see in these dark unreachable areas.

I would higly recommend this for boat owners. Obviously it is only as good as the clarity of the water but its an incredable value.

    Excellent camera, March 24, 2009
By TRW3 from Mt. Clemens, Michigan

"Clarity is excellent, need more user time. Used it twice and is excellent. I think its better than fish tv, used fish tv in February on Brevort Lake, MI and had to stop using it at dark monitor too dark. The Cabelas camera I can use at night, and the camera is excellent to be used at day or night. This is an excellent tool to use in shallow waters. I will use in deeper water in the summer."

    Underwater Camera, March 24, 2009
    By HADTOHAVIT from Northwest Michigan

"I am satisfied with the camera and the display. I was in clear water when a Pike come in and we were eyeball to eyeball. I have used it in cloudy water and the visibility is limited. I was able to find some underwater structure that I had been looking for. I have not tried it below 20'. The only thing I would change is make the case larger. My grandson and I had a great time Ice fishing watching the bite. I may try it on my downrigger this summer."

Underwater Average Jo, March 23, 2009
    By WalleyeRookie from Michigan

"For the money the camera is a decent unit. The camera case workmanship and function is good. Battery life is typical. The picture during daylight conditions is average. When it starts to get dark outside the visible picture quality is poor due to the infrared lights being mostly useless. Only the ocasional reflection of your lure is visible. If acceptable night time viewing is imporant to you, I would avoid this unit."

cabelas underwater camera, March 23, 2009
    By alpenafishnut from mi

"The only thing I dislike about this camera so far is the monitor is very hard to see in sunlight needs better sun visor. Works fine on cloudy days or in shanty. Will have to come up with something to cover the monitor with to use off a dock or my boat. very easy to use has a great picture when in shanty or covered with a coat and your head in it. This dont work well while fishing. the infared light works great for use at night. I would recommend this to a friend only after telling them about the hard to see monitor in bright light."
