The book is much better,April 23, 2008

"First let me say I owned the book Barr Flies before I bought this DVD. I love love love the book. The DVD falls short in several areas. 1. Details that are in the book are missing from the DVD. I thought getting the DVD would give me more detail! 2. The production value is low and has lots for commerial reference for Cabelas and a fly company. 3. Jack Dennis takes away from the film. I thought this film was about John Barr and his excellent flies. However I have to say John does a good job in the film given the limitations of the production. He is very talented and has some very good tips."

"Seeing a great master of the flying tying league at work tying his favourite flies that he himself devised is truly fasinating, I have watched this DVD over and over again and every time I spot things that I missed before, It has indeed helped me with my fly tying."

"Whenever I get the chance to tie with a group, I ALWAYS learn something new. The same could be said about watching a pro on DVD, all the little nuances that they make it look so easy become more apparent. Hosted with Jack Dennis who has come a long way from his VHS days in the 80's, the pair have quite a chemistry that makes it fun to watch as well. If you want to take your tying to the next level, and catch more fish, this is highly recommended!"
