Great product especially for the price,June 30, 2009
By kayaktripfrom Lafayette, IN
"We used the Handi-rack to haul two kayaks from Indiana to the Adirondacks in upstate New York and back. It worked really well - better than we had expected. We had no problems with rain leaking in through the door seal as others have commented about... great product when you're not quite ready to invest $400-500 on a roof rack!"

Very Useful, Good Quality,January 20, 2009
By Corwynfrom Michigan
"I recently purchased the Handi-Rack for a 1350+ mile road trip from Michigan to Colorado. It handled the trip extremely well. I strapped down 3 sets of skis, poles and snowshoes to the rack and was very impressed with how the rack handled the trip. I hit winds across Iowa and Nebraska that were 45-50 mph and the rack stayed tight and barely moved on my car. I did not drive tentatively, typically 80-85 mph for the majority of the trip. I can see how others have had the rack scratch their vehicle -- if you do not put down the flaps to protect the sides of your car from the strap that could certainly happen. Being that it was winter, there was no problem with any leakage from the seal where the straps came through. I had no problems with the tubes losing air on the way there or on the way back (20 hours each way).
Even with the higher speed, the full load and the high winds the rack was above and beyond my expectations. I have already recommended it to friends and family. I certianly plan on using this rack in the summer for kayak and/or canoe."

Be Carefull,September 17, 2008
By jjd241
"The rack worked well. I had to work around my 1990's motorized passive restraint seatbelts. I was able to take the fuse out when the shoulder harness was in the engaged position. You will want to put a pad down to avoid the significant scratching that I got. Other than that the thing held on tight for a 1000 mile trip at freeway speeds with a rather large load. The pice is great!"

Significant drawbacks but works.,September 9, 2008
By Paddlefrom Nevada
"Objective: carry 10 foot , 41 lb kayak on roof of new Mazda 3 wagon. Two day , 1000 mile trip. Included plastic air pump was broken in the package, repaired using 5/32 brass tubing so as not to delay trip. Car roof was washed and waxed, then rack was strapped on and inflated. Valves were difficult to close w/o losing air. Pump works very well. Straps held carrier and kayak securely in highway driving but the tubes leaked air and by the beginning of the second day it was necessary to take the boat off , deflate tubes, tighten straps , reinflate, etc. Some rain came in where the straps compress the door seals. The roof had a slight dent which I pushed out from below and a slight rough spot in the paint which will polish out. It can do the job but needs to be checked frequently."

Rack 'em up,September 2, 2008
By WayOutEastfrom Way Out East
"I am able to put these racks on the car in less than 2 minutes and they are enough to handle our 16' canoe on top of our Nissan Altima. I haven't driven more than 45 mph with the canoe on the roof and I don't think I would go faster than that (or travel a great distance) - - but it's ok since we have about a dozen put-in spots within 15 minutes. The major plus is that these are totally universal and can be use on any vehicle and take up no storage space. The hand pump provided fills them surprsingly fast."

"The rack system worked great carying my canoe and kayak from Michigan to Texas. The only problem was when it rained hard the straps that run through the door frame tended to drip inside the cab of my truck. Other than that great product."

HandiRack Roof Rack,July 27, 2008
By Theyakmanfrom VA
"The rack is easy to intalll and inflate. It supported our sea kayak on a 400 mile trip with no problems. The only caution is the strap location inside the vehilce. It may interfere with your head position. It was not a problem in our Dodge Minivan. Great product and it is easy to remove."

Scion xD,June 30, 2008
By ScionxDfrom Santa Barbara, CA
"Fits great. Fairly easy to install and remove. The straps go completely around the roof by going through the door openings, so it is well attached. Great and fast pump. Easy to deflate and stash in the provided bag. I hauled 14 foot lumber with no trouble lashed ddown to the sturdy D rings. Yakima rack was +$300."

Perfect if you don't want to drill & mount a rack,April 22, 2008
By cctmobiledetailfrom SF Bay Area, California
"I have a brand new Nissan Frontier. I didn't really want to drill into the cab and mount a rack, but need a rack to haul my newly purchased Portabote. I found the Malone Handi Rack, and it's perfect ! Inflate the two separate racks, run them through your front window and the rear door and tie off to their big , strong d-rings and whatever you tie up there stays. The racks are also soft enough that they won't scratch the paint as long as you tighten the straps. I highly recommend this new idea for a portable, non permanent rack !!!"

Wonderful!,April 11, 2008
By AnnieKatefrom South Carolina
"I recently purchased a 12 foot used kayak and was looking for an affordable way to transport it on my 2003 Honda Civic. I didn't want to spend more on the rack than I did the kayak, and then I came across this product. I was a little skeptical. It was so affordable and SEEMED so easy to use. I am extremely pleased with this product. It is easy to use and I remove it from the vehicle when I'm done. The tie down straps held the kayak firmly in place. Also, when I get a different vehicle, I won't have to get a new rack, I can just use this one! One thing I'm not sure about is if it will affect the paint on the top of the car. It's just too early to tell. I really love this product and recommend it!"
