Cabelas Used to Ship Rods in These,
August 13, 2009
By StevenKoz
from Prospect Heights IL
|
"I've had a couple of these cases for about twenty years; I received them when I purchased a Pro Guide 6'6" casting rod and a two piece Shimano rod. They were shipped in these cases and included in the price of the rods. I think it would be great if Cabelas still did that. These cases are great for toting your rods in the mini van with the kids stepping where ever they please, including on your rod guides. These tubes slide very nicely underneath the seats of a van and preserve the life of the rods. My kids are in college now, and those two rods are still safe and in use."

PVC ROD CASE,
October 28, 2008
By FSHNFOOL
from Hercules, CA
|
"I have been using Cabela's rod cases for years. Lately I have found another use for them. They make excellent storage tubes for rifle bore cleaning rods. I put all mine in one place so I could have them available to me when having a shoot day in the mountains. Now I don't worry if I brought along the right cleaning rod anymore. Works great !"

Too narrow,
April 21, 2008
By jocal
|
"I could only give 2 stars because the case is too flimsy, also the inside dimensions are not as stated, it will not fit my 2 piece Shimano 7' MH rod because its too narrow for the guides. I went by the description for inside diameter but they don't account for the end caps which make it smaller. Should be O.K. for light action poles with smaller guides. Also it arrived with black scuff marks all over. You get what you pay for with this product."

By MacNumber1

"Used case for 2 pc rods travelling over very rough roads and had no issues with TSA or airlines. Low cost, light weight, good protection were major influences. Would have appreciated an over the shoulder carry strap. The cap did not loosen or pop off during travel. Low costs lessen the impact if lost or stolen."

Rod Cases,
February 5, 2008
By RichC
from North East Pennsylvania
|
"I purchased eight of these cases for my carbon spinning and baitcasting rods. It is a great value for the cost of these cases to protect your more expensive rods. I have experienced no problems with the cases, they do get black marks on them but they were purchased to protect my better rods not to hang on the mantle. Haven't had any problems with the end caps and my rods stay in a pristine condition ready to use. Since my cases go from house to truck to boat a carrying handle is not necessary, but I can see where it would be good if you were flying, or going on a commercial boat."

arrow tube or pack rod tube,
January 20, 2008
By Anonymous
from MO
|
"I purchased a tube to carry archery arrows which is shorter and less expensive. It is exactly like the rod tubes except the length. I cut mine down to match the length of my pack rods. It now will carry two pack rods in socks perfectly. It is plenty sturdy to protect the rods and light enough to not weight you down. It is perfect for what I need."

Does what I bought it for,
December 28, 2007
By Muckingitup
from Elkton, MD
|
"Overall this is a good product but, with just a few minor additions it would be an excellent one. A handle or strap for carrying and a cap that could be locked are obvious upgrades but, I knew these features didn't exist before purchase and am not disappointed with their exculsions as I have a bag for this purpose. The reason I gave it 4-stars is because there is an inside lip in the tube that catches the guides when the pole is removed...just a minor inconvenience that could be easily remedy by tapering the inside lip."

A case that can take a beating,
November 27, 2007
By Longrider69
from Cheyenne WY
|
"As a bike rider, and backpacker I've used a rod case like this for years, and although the case has gotten beatin and bruised its still holding togather just fine. I just bought a new one today and hope it will last as long. One upgrade I would like to see is a handle, but that is easy enough to attach by the consumer. All in all, a good solid case for the money."

Just In Case,
October 16, 2007
By Sliderguy
from Where The Wind Comes Sweeping Down The Plain
|
"This is one of those items that you will use to protect your rod. It holds my two (2 piece) rods very nicely. Yes, the airlines are capable of "destroying" anything, that's what they do best. This rod case will mitigate their ability to ruin your fishing trip, at least from the viewpoint of wheather or not your rod makes it off the plane in one piece. Nice cushioning in the endcaps. Just in case."
