Back Country side zip wading boots,
September 29, 2009
By treedoc
from Golden Colorado
|
"These are the first pair of wading boots I have ever bought so my experience with this system (stocking foot waders and seperate boots) is limited. I am used to Cabela's Premium boot foot waders, which still serve me well but can get a bit warm. The boots seem to work as intended. The side zipper makes for easy on and off. My only complaint is that they get heavy as the day wears on. I am used to the rubber boots that don't take on extra weight by absorbing water."

GREAT BOOT..................,
September 9, 2009
By strandman220

"The zipper isnt a big deal. Your probably going to have to un lace the boot anyhow. Double stiched felt soles, at this price is what sealed the deal. I hike into back woods streams often. And they are a joy to walk in. As well as to fish in. A heck of a boot for the money."

"These wading boots have been a dream. I used to use the ultra lights by Cabela's but these are the next STEP in wading boots. The zipper makes getting the boots on and off a breeze. They are so comfortable, i could walk miles through the streams and rivers and never skip a beat."

"These boots have performed very well and are comfortable. When I first ordered them I ordered one size larger as I have in the past with other cheaper boots. I found out real quick that quality waders and quality boots equal proper fit!"

not for long walks,
January 26, 2009
By hntfshwv

"I've used these twice now. The side zipper does make it much easier to get on and off. I haven't had them long enough to know if they'll last. They are light weight and the felt soles do the job. The upper sides of the boots, at the ankle and above, seem to be more stiff than they should be and lack padding which makes walking from hole to hole a bit uncomfortable. The zippers seem to stay mostly zipped, but do come partially unzipped if you walk a lot in them. If you're an avid, weekly trout fisherman and abuse your stuff, this probably isn't the boot for you. If you fish some during the spring and fall, these will get you by."

Good for the Price,
December 28, 2008
By Mattdaburgh

"I am a fishing guide in alaska and had originally gotten these boots thinking that they would only last the season. To my surprise they held up well and still had felt left. I also liked the zipper initially but ended up regretting it by the end since it tore up my gravel guards. If there was a way to remake these boots and put some sort of zipper protector on them they would be excellent boots."

Zipper is a good idea, but.......,
November 18, 2008
By tblacklo

"The boots are decent, nothing out of the ordinary in terms of wading boots. I work in the field, and sometimes have to put waders on multiple times in a day. The main reason for buying these was the zipper. I thought it would speed up putting them on and taking them off. I have found that they are difficult to zip all the way up, and if left partially unzipped, they unzip themselves while wading."

Easy on and easy off,
October 22, 2008
By RogueGuiden
from Oregon
|
"I have used my Cabela's Backcountry Side-Zip Wading Boots numerous times already and I am very pleased with my purchase. The felt soles have proven themselves very solid for wading a very rocky, slippery and powerful river. At this early date they appear to be standing up to the abuse of the river's bottom very well with no damage to the material or stiching. The tops are very comfortable and might I add quite stylish. The only complaint I can voice is that they don't slip on and off as easily as I had imagined when deciding on these boots, but the sipper does make pulling the wading boots on and off a lot simpler than if it was not there. I would recommend the boots to friends and clients."

Products for Women,
October 8, 2008
By forawoman
from New Hampshire
|
"These boots are probably great boots, but not for me. I was looking for something for a woman to wet-wade in and thought if I ordered two men's sizes down from mine, maybe these would work. But... they were still too big, and wide, even though I have a wide foot. They are obviously made for a neoprene bootie. Same problem with the Ultralight in the Women's sizes. I'll keep looking."

Good boots put through tough conditions,
September 23, 2008
By Anonymous
from Estes Park, Colorado
|
"The main reasons I selected these side zip wading boots were my high-arched feet and an impending Alaskan float hunting trip. I quickly found out I needed to bring the boots into the tent at night to keep them from freezing (a true son of a gun to put on then!). Another problem not anticipated is that felt soled boots and a wet snow don't get along as the snow sticks to the felt and after a few steps you are walking no 6" stilts. I had planned to hunt in the boots away from the river, but that changed quickly. I found my Leatherman's pliers to be invaluable as an aid in putting the boots on. All in all, good boots that I anticipate using many years on the trout stream. I think you'll be happier buying one size larger than your street shoes."

"Felt bottoms worked great and were very comfortable. The zippers were a little bit hard to zip but that maybe because they were new. I would have given them a 5 star rating but have not used them enough to do that. Want to test them on MT greased bowling balls. Mark"

good, lightweight boot,
June 30, 2008
By RC23

"I can't speak for their durability since I"ve only had them out half a dozen times but they work great, are lightweight & the zipper idea is a good one (although, occasionally I have to check them periodically to make sure their still zipped up). They certainly could use release hooks (or whatever they're called) for the top two laces."
