failed seam,November 2, 2009
By 2Bigfishfrom North Coast, California
"I use my dry-plus waders in spring and fall steelhead fishing only, maybe 20 times per year. The seam tape in the crotch is separating on waders I bought in October 2007 letting in nice cold water to spots you want to keep warm. Booties have been comfortable but the gravel guards make it a struggle to get into/out-of. Disappointed that they have failed after two seasons of wear."
Solid Product,August 5, 2009

"I have had these waders out more then a dozen times since I bought them in July after hours of research and bugging my fly fishing mentors. They have been used in float tubes, runoff rivers and lots of hiking. I have been very happy with the product, it has kept me warm ( with layers) and dry. Only had one failure on the waders and that was the hook that holds the gravel guards down to your boots. I would recommend this product."

"I wore these gold medal waders at the Bighorn River in Montana and they held up to some of the toughest wading I have ever done. I had to exit the river through Russian Olive and brush that would tear most any waders. these did not tear or show any signs of wear. It was the worst bunch of brush i have ever gone through. I even broke my rod, but these waders held up strong. I am very happy with this purchase!"
Tough as nails!,May 22, 2009

"The first set of breathable waders I owned were a set of Orvis waders. I fish a lot, and in a few months, those Orvis waders were like cheese graters. It seemed like every time I stumbled, there was a new hole to repair.
These Cabela's waders, on the other hand, are just plain tough as nails. They're good for a river rat like myself who is always getting in and out of boats, and trampin' through the bushes and the briars to get to the best spots. They're heavier, but still plenty flexible and comfortable to please even the most spry folks.
I've put these things through a couple of years of hard use. I'm in Virginia and I wet wade in the summer, so these get used from September through May. So far I've patched ONE significant leak, and a bit of Aquaseal rubbed in with a toothbrush seems to have fixed it good. I Aquasealed a few other slightly boogered up areas that I thought might leak one day in the future.
For my own purposes, I wouldn't take a chance on any other waders out there."

"So I 've only used them once but I can say this. I love the movement range and the fact that when I remove them after 8 hours of fishing it isn't like taking off a body wrap. I can't stand that wet feeling so I give these waders that;you stay dry. Although you sacrifice warmness because these waders are thinner which gives you excellent movement but you are really cold. I fished the American River and I had to wear my thermals plus a pair of sweats just to stay comfortable. I'm a preety skinny guy though and I'm sensative to cold water. Anyway I had the 4 mil. Cabelas Roaring Forks Waders before which kept me warm so I could just wear themals underneath but the thickness in the waders is hard to walk and climb in at times. I like these waders so far really well."
High and Dry,October 28, 2008
By Fishnjohnfrom Central Calif
"The waders worked as advertised. I enjoyed staying dry fishing the Rogue River in Oregon in a steady rain for four days. Comfortable, easy on and off, and dry! I have not used them hiking through brush so I can't attest to their durability. Once I do I hope to be able to rate them at 5 stars."
Excellent Waders,October 27, 2008
By Roudyfrom Kaysville, UT
"I have now taken these waders out on three all day trips. They are extremely comfortable and durable. Haven't had any leaks thus far. The one thing I wish they had done with this product was to integrate the belt with the waders so that you don't forget it! The price/quality ratio is excellent on this product."
"Have been using them at the beach and walking through salt ponds. Easy in and out along with being light weight make them a good choice. Dry dry dry; no complaints!"
left sock foot leaks,October 13, 2008
By greenreeffrom Hampden, ma
"the second time i used these waders the left foot started leaking. Not a lot of water, just enough to make me think about the leak instead of trout fishing. I'll put the end in a bucket of water with enough air pressure to find the leak and then seal it. I don't want to waste the money to ship them back for an exchange."

No reason to spend $300 on waders,September 22, 2008
By TheDude889
"Good waders, good quality, good price. Why bother with fancy name brands unles you have money to waste. These waders are as good or better than Simms, or patagonia, or orvis. Waders should be comfortable, keep you dry and hold up. These waders do that. They are build solid are extra thick in from the knees down so they handle brush and long walks. They are a little heavy, but unless you mainly fish in warm climates they are perfect. The seams are solid. I am a fisheries biologist and spend up to 100 days a year in waders I have owned a variety of name brands and for the price the Cabelas waders have been the equal or better to the much more expensive name brands."

"Waders work great and are rugged enough to fight through brush and berries. My only complaint is that the buckles for the shoulder straps are less durable than I expected. Overall I am satisfied unlike my husband who purchsed the Alaska Guide waders."
Chest Waders in Alaska Bush,August 19, 2008
By DRDAWfrom Bay area, Northern California
"I brought three pairs of new chest waders and used them on their maiden trip for a week of fly fishing in the Alaskan bush country. They proved to be tough, worked fine and without leaks or hardware problems. I would recommend them to all. There are a couple of issues, however, the shoulder straps are too short for people with long torsos. Even when you pull the waders up as far as you can, the straps are still under tension and push on your shoulders. Some sort of strap extensions should be offered along with shoulder cushions. Eight hours a day with your waders on, you want to be comfortable."

"I like these a lot, in particular the material covering the legs and the gaiters. The neopprene feet could be a bit smoother but aren't bad. I would buy them again."

Comfortable, well made, good price,June 20, 2008
By RDavefrom Virginia
"I just bought a pair of Cabela's Gold Medal chest waders. I've used them on one trip. They were comfortable and didn't leak. So that this for what its worth. The true value of waders doesn't show until you've been wearing them for a while"
Gold Medal Waders,June 5, 2008
By RaymondLfrom Laurel, MD
"Outstanding product... as an average sized guy, I was concerned about the fit since many waders seem to be made for larger than average people... more is not always better. I was very pleased with the overall fit... and even though the neoprene feet are a little large for my size 11 foot, they will give me ample room to add an extra pair of socks when the late fall temps lower the river temp. And as for how rugged they are, the extra thickness from in the thighs and seat certainly has made them impervious to brush. I like the pouch that's attached to the inside of the front of the wader, too, but find that, with my vest pockets, I haven't needed it... but nice to have it just in case. Definately worth all the research I did before purchasing this set of waders!"
Waders in the Rough,April 15, 2008
By FarWestfrom So Cal. fishing the Surf, Mtns, Salt & Fresh
"I usually go through a pair of waders very quickly due to the places I like to fish at. Normally I have to hike to my favorite local fishing holes, so the waders get a beating going through brush, scrambling along rock ledges & climbing in and out of river banks resting on my knees. These waders thus far have passed the test, no rips, tears or punctures have occurred this season to date. Of course I am careful not to abuse the waders, but I trek confidently knowing the waders are tough. They are comfortable, fit well for my stature, look great and the price performance ratio cannot be beat. Any one looking for a great pair of waders would be hard pressed not to select this pair. My only complaint would be the suspenders. If they would be wider with some padding built in, then I would say the waders are a 5 plus for the rating."
