"We bought this as a smaller extra kennel for our then 7 week old lab in the medium size. It was small and portable while she was little, she went camping in it and it was handy when she needed to be crated for short periods. It fit well in the back seat of the pickup and had great ventilation. As planned after six months, the dog has grown out of it and we will pass it on to some one else. Highly recommend for a lighter duty kennel."

"This product was poorly constructed, the pieces did not fit together well, and was very flimsy. It did not "collapse", one had to disassemble it completely. The item is not up to Cabelas' standards of quality."

"Have a 4 month old lab and bought XL carrier. Didn't want to purchase multiple crates as she gets older. Works GREAT for my needs. Don't have a problem with her breaking out.

Rods that lock door into place could be more substantial. And they have to be lined up perfectly to fit into the pin holes, but not a deal breaker for me. Went in knowing this crate was NOT quickly broken down and reassembled."

"The kennel is pretty flimsey, top clamps do not hold particularily well. Jostling on two-tracks caused the top to seperate from the sides. I've used a banding machine to put nylon straps around the kennel to solidfy the clamps, thus losing the knockdown capability of the kennel."

"I have several dogs and wanted tos ee if I could use this to transport my dogs to and from training. I have German Shepherds. This Pet porter is not very good at keeping them safely inside. The door will open very easy if the dog paws on it. I would not recommend it."

"Although the item is "Made in USA" it doesn't do very well containing a 65# yellow lab. If it is in the back of my truck with the door up against the tailgate it is fine, but if the kennel is out in the open it is very easy for my dog to get out of. She is able to lean on the door and it pops right open.

The good thing is I bought it from Cabelas. I called them and explained my concerned and they issued a call tag to return the product for a full refund."

"Portable Pet Carrier is not what I expected - I believed from the info provided that the carrier was collapseable in quick time frame. It takes more like 5 minutes and you end up with loose pieces not all contained. I was hoping that the unit would be hinged at the sides and it would fold onto itself."

Got a surprise with this kennel, September 22, 2008

"We have a 1 year old Boxer that got out of a soft side travel kennel in our camper and destroyed the screens and mini-blinds. We camp and 4-wheel so wanted something light and easily stored, thought this fit the bill after the "tent" fiasco and cannot use the all wire kennel for him-he has injured himself. Loved the size and weight of this kennel, but it has a MAJOR flaw, the metal used for the doors is too flexible--Our 60 lb dog pushed until the door popped open and I am again replacing screens and blinds! A bungee cord acrossed the front or a carbiner on each side seems to do the trick. Thought this was a little pricey too for the quality."

"I have a 85 pound Lab should have purchased an X-Large carrier instead of a Large one but as far as the carrier it self I'm satisfied.I put it together in about 15 minutes, might not fold up as easy as I thought it would but whatever."

"Nice kennel, but it takes a while to break down every piece in order to take it with you. Got it thinking I could break it down quick and have more room in my vehicle while on the road. Not so, unless you have 5-10 minutes. As a kennel it's solid, just don't agree with the "portable" part unless you leave it put together."
