Not waterproof,

"I think the catalog description could more clearly say that these boots are not waterproof. I bought them for trail walking and the first time I stepped into a shallow mud puddle, my foot got wet. Water seeped right through the top of toe box. I was planning to use them for overnight backpacking trips, but if I can't cross a small creek without getting wet feet, they're no good for that purpose. I guess the "Vent" part of the boot name should have tipped me off. But otherwise, they're a great boot - very comfortable right out of the box."

"Boot was comfortable right out of box, water resistant, and the price is excellant. Good lieght weight hiking boot. covered 12 miles 1st day with moderate weight pack. would have given it 5 stars, except it is a little light for carrying a heavy pack for long distance."

Great every day boots!,

"I just purchased my second pair of these boots. Working in the heat and varied terrain of Iraq, my first pair of these boots lasted 14 months. The only reason they needed replaced is the uneven tread wear from my walking on the outsole so bad. These are light and durable. Surprisingly, the webbed upper is resilient. When it was time to find new boots, I knew what I wanted. I couldn't rate these any higher or I would!"

"First pair of Danner hikers. No need to break them in, great fit. I took them for a thirty mile hike. Fifteen of it with a 50# pack in the Beartooths of Montana. They kept their grip even on loose gravel and on the steep incline of rocks. My feet are still thanking me. Great boots."

"Finding wide, high volume summer hiking shoes can be hard. There is enough room for full length arch supports. Lots of cushion with good tread. Really gets rid of the heat on summer days."

"I require a shoe to cover my ankle and to be cool in the summer. It gets hot here in Texas and I am always looking for something that breathes. This shoe does these things pretty well. It's early June and it's not really got hot here yet, but I think these are going to do better than any other mid-cut hiker that I have tried. The temps have only been in the low 90s so far. Good shoes, but Danners are reputably good."
