Solid Product,July 30, 2009
By FixedBladeHunter
"Use this rod a lot and enjoy it. Fishing rods are a very individual thing -- much to do with feel. The components and construction are there - sensitive, yet strong when it counts.
However, I must say that I bought a Cabelas XMLti on sale and prefer it to the Avid."

St. Croix Avid Series 7' UL, Medium, 2 Pc,July 14, 2009
By Ivan557from Northern Wisconsin
"I've always wanted one of these St Croix ultralight rods. I do a lot of jig fishing with 1/16 and 1/8 oz jigs and 4lb line. I've only had the rod for a couple of weeks so I refrained from rating it a full 5 stars. I am happy with its sensitivity and balance. My only concern is that when I develop a favorite fishing rod I always find a way to break it. This is quickly becoming my favorite rod."

SMOOTH ROD,July 8, 2009
By SECRETANGLERfrom CARY, IL
"THIS IS MY FIRST ST. CROIX AND ITS TRUE THE LITTLE MORE YOU SPEND FOR AN UPGRADE THE BETTER THE ROD. THE FIRST TIME I CAST OUT A CRANKBAIT ON THIS ROD AND RETREIVED IT BACK I THOUGHT I LOST THE LURE THATS HOW SMOOTH IT CAME BACK. WITH A QUANTUM ACCURIST BAITCASTER YOU CAN'T GO WRONG. SPEND THE MONEY IF YOU WANT A BETTER ROD. JUST DO IT AND YOU'LL AGREE."

"Used this rod in Canada on Walleye and Pike. It holds heavy fish well and with a Shimano Sahara reel, casts beautifully. Best rod and reel combo I've ever owned."

st croix spinning rod,May 5, 2009
By anglerbob2from Indiana
"I had to exchange the rod because of a curve in the rod blank. The problem was with St. Croix and not Cabelas. The rod is still a great rod and I would buy it again. Cabelas service was great on the return. I recommend Cabelas and St. Croix."

Heavier than expected,May 4, 2009
By Bashkerfrom Rancho Mirage, CA
"I bought this 7' St Croix Avid rod and a Shimano Crucial 7'2" rod at the same time. I have an Avid 6'9" casting rod which I really like so I though I would like this 7' spinning rod. The rod is very good but when I compared it with the 7'2" Shimano Crucial, it seemed like the crucial was more balanced and lighter. I sent this rod back for exchange for another crucial. There is nothing wrong with this rod its just the Crucial felt better both casting and balance. This really surprised me because I like the St Croix products and their customer service is top notch. I have the Crucial teamed with a Team Daiwa® Tierra™ Spinning Reel and the combination is as good as I have experienced."

Outstanding!,November 13, 2008
By Peoplefinderfrom Mojave Desert, CA
"You can read all the reviews, see the Avid used on a t.v. show, but none of there will prepare you for what the real-life experience of fighting a fish with this premium rod. The rod cast well, felt balanced and, most of all, handled the fish beyond my expectations. This is my first, but by no means, last Avid...full marks to St. Croix!"

St Croix Avid 7'0 Spinning,June 13, 2008
By shimano1112from South Alabama
"This rod, paired with Shimano Stradic 4000 is incredible. I have fished everything from small sharks to redfish and jacks crevalle with much success. I WILL buy another St. Croix rod, most likely paired with a Shimano. St. Croix's service is also unmatched, for broken rods, etc."

Great Trout Rod!,May 22, 2008
By Zugbugzfrom Avondale, AZ
"I bought the new Avid model AVS66-2 (6'6" 2 piece light) to fish for trout. Having previously purchased a Premier rod in the same size, I had high expectations, as the Premier is a very good light trout rod. I was not disappointed! Both are great rods, but the Avid is even better overall. I love the skeletal cork handle and the blank is very sensitive. The new Avid IPC casts beautifully, feels perfect with a fish on (and has the backbone to land big trout easily) and looks great. I used to be a diehard G. Loomis GL3 person...but the St. Croix is lighter in hand and every bit as good, if not better - and with beautiful cosmetics and a lower price, I am now a diehard St. Croix fan. If you're in the market for a G. Loomis, you owe it to yourself to try the new Avid IPC rods. St. Croix's rods don't increase in price every few months like G. Loomis, and the new models are only slightly more expensive than the models they replaced. You might just change your mind about buying G. Loomis...!"
