"I bought these for traction on sheer ice when I am walking / running with my shepherd. The spikes have excellent gripping ability even when running (and being pulled!), and they don't cake up with snow. However, you have to be careful to remove these from your boots prior to going inside a garage or house because the spikes will come off or worse they will ruin interior flooring surfaces. Luckily they come off and on easily. I found that the extra spikes were necessary because I lost some now and then. I have had these for years and they still offer the spikes so I stalked up. These did the trick for me and my dog and kept us in action year round!"
