XSS reel for a Sage Z-axis switch rod,March 24, 2008

"I purchased a XSS reel and extra spool to go onto a recently purchased Sage Z-axis 11 foot eight weight rod. The reel has a floating line and the spool has a multi-tip line for selecting sink rates. The reel balances well on the rod and has the heft and braking that I will need for Deschutes steelhead and Alaska trips for Sockeye, Silvers and Steelhead. I think that the combination will work as well as a Spey rod and reel but without the heft of the rods and the weight of the reel. Already have two Alaska trips set up and am eager to try them out."
