Magnifier works great to help thread fly hooks, July 25, 2008

"I mainly bought this product for the magnifier and the fact that it's hinged the way it is, so I can hold the plier part in my hand while holding the fly in the same hand, and use the magnifier to "embiggen" the view as I thread the tippet into the hook eye.

The tweezer/forceps works okay I guess, but is not very heavy duty at all, and the scissors works if you're careful about how you hold and put pressure on the two arms to get the blades to contact each other correctly. I found the hook eye cleaner pin to be hard to access with a smaller hook, because it's mostly surrounded by the frame of the unit.

For the price I'd buy another, because the 4X magnifier and hinged design work very well for my purpose, but overall it could be made better."
