It promotes seamless transition between line-in and drag engagement with no start-up friction. Exposed rim allows palming for enhanced breaking control. Frame and
quick-release spool are manufactured of aircraft-quality aluminum with a
corrosion-resistant electrostatic coating. Convertible right- or left-hand retrieve. Combos include weight forward floating fly line and backing.

"This was my first fly rod & reel. I wanted something that would be fairly easy to use as I attempted to learn how to cast a fly and pull in a fish. I was impressed with the rod case and storage sleeve. The reel was loaded with line and leader and ready to go. All I had to do was tie on a fly to the leader and begin casting. Although I still need a lot of practice, this rod & reel worked very well for me."

"I really liked this combo, The Cabelas Traditional II, a 9', #8, 2-piece, is really a great rod to buy, pole is very strong, but yet sensitive, and makes casting a fly a breeze. But together with the smooth, Ross flystart reel, it is perfect for everything! Plus the rod comes with a rod sock and a rod tube!"
