When accurate line control and delicate presentations are required to hook wary fish, no rod does it better than the
moderate-action Cabela's PT+. With the new continuous curve profile, these rods load and unload with maximum
efficiency. This translates into greater accuracy and more casting distance with less effort. An extremely thin layer of
graphite is added to specific locations throughout the blank to increase the overall durability of the blank, producing a
rod that will withstand large loads. The extra backbone of the PT+ is just what you need to put the hammer down on
monster fish. The moderate action of the PT+ promotes casts for finesse presentations, such as when your fishing
small dries on a crystal-clear stream or lake. This type of taper is ideal for anglers with a slower casting stroke.

Sweet Little Rod 7' 3 wt PT,November 17, 2009
By 153013from Angleton, TX
"Way too much emphasis now days is placed on tip flex or fast action rods. The PT rods are moderate action, fairly slow. Sometimes labeled as a good rod for beginners (and they are) they turn off people who may not want to be thought of as a beginner (even though they are). I've been throwing flyrods for 47 years and frankly I'm pretty good at it and I like slow rods. I've got fast rods, slow rods and everything in between. Like tools I use them for different purposes. I bought this one for a trip to Colorado in Sept. The weather was dreadful and we didn't do any good fishing so unfortunately I didn't catch anything on it but I loved casting it. The local fly shop told us things are slow (ie not biting) and recommeded a leggy, wooley worm looking thing in size 10. That cast like a brick bat. You throw light flies on a 3 wt, especially a slow 3 wt. I switched over to a dry. Oh man! That little rod would roll over a dry, leader straight as a string line and not even a whisper when it set down on the surface. It is a sweet little rod for what it was designed for. I live in Texas and fish mostly in Texas and Arkansas for warm water fish. I've got a favorite lake in Arkansas a buddy and I fish every June. We fish mostly from kayaks so even though it's big water a lot of the casting is close in. That's where a slow rod shines. Close in you can lay a fly down with out slapping the water. I can't wait to try that little rod up there where it's one big pan fish after the other."

Excellent Rod,August 7, 2009
By footsypjsfrom Colorado
"I'm a beginner flyfisher and this rod has been absolutely PERFECT for me. We fish small water and I have had no trouble getting my casts exactly where they need to be. (And I have spent considerably less time untangling my fly from bushes, trees, etc!) Great rod, highly recommended."

Fantastic soft slow rod,August 3, 2009
By tennswedefrom Knoxville, TN
"You will love this rod if you prefer slow soft action rods. Otherwise it might not be for you. The only negative is the finish on the wraps. I don't like to see the thread underneath.
I deducted one star because the finish."

The Best Cabelas Ultralight Rod So Far?,July 6, 2009
By BrianinAtlantafrom Working the warm waters south of Atlanta, GA
"I bought this rod on a whim about a month ago, thinking it would fill a gap between my old Cabela's Clear Creek 1wt and my 2wt LST. Yes it does, and does so very admirably. So much so that it has become my favorite ultralight rod.
Cabela's has a real winner in this rod. Well appointed (easily the best cork I've seen on any Cabela's fly rod), well finished and a very nice mid flex action. I use it mainly with a 2wt DT line, and it loads and casts very easily with that line. I've also tried it with a 2wt WF line, but it feels just a bit over-lined, and with a 1wt DT but that feels a bit too light. So I'll say that the 2wt DT line is best and it would probably handle a 1wt WF line just fine.
I think this is Cabela's best ultralight rod to date!
So Cabela's, when are you going to come out with a true ultralight reel to match the great rods you are putting out there? You have put out some great ultralight rods in the past few years (the old and much lamented Clear Creek line and now the PT+) and make some great 2wt lines (both in the Prestige and Prestige Plus line). We sure could use a nice, reasonably priced 2.5 oz reel (hint, hint)."

SMOOTH,June 15, 2009
By ZTROUTBUMfrom PENSACOLA, FLORIDA
"THE PT+ RODS HAVE A VERY SMOOTH MEDIUM ACTION AND THE 8 FT 3 WT IS A HOOT FISHING THE BLACKWATER RIVER IN MILTON, FLORIDA. THE FINISH IS NICE AND I LIKE THE COLOR, THE ROD CASE WAS ALSO NICE. I ALSO HAVE THE 7 FT 6 INCH 4 WT BUT HAVE NOT USED IT YET. SO IF YOU LIKE THE SLOWER CASTING STYLE OF A MEDIUM ACTION YOU WILL LOVE THESE WELL BUILT RODS, I KNOW I LOVE MINE."

Only fair,May 9, 2009
By DuluthDanfrom Rocky Mountains
"Bought this rod becauseit had nice slow action and is easy to cast and control. Butt section started to splinter and finally gave up during its second season of use, and I am not a heavy user. Was disappointed in the quality of the graphite / and or/ the construction. Never thought that section would fail like it did. Sorry, I own and love much of the Cabela's products, but not this one."

"This is only my second fly rod so I may not have as educated an opinion as others here but for my purposes this rod delivers excellent performance at a reasonable cost. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one at all."

Nice fly rod,October 22, 2008
By Coloflyfisher6425from Longmont, CO
"I bought this rod as a backup, but find that I use it more as my primary rod. I find it easy to cast with and can send out more line than is practical for the rivers that I fish."

PT+ Really IS a "Plus",October 13, 2008
By normniceguyfrom Hat Creek/Fall River, CA,
"I recently purchased my 9ft. 5wt. 2 piece PT+ after much deliberation. The rod's performance pleasantly surprised me. Contrary to the implied softness in the product description, I found the PT+ to easily cast significant distances, as well as close-in. My fears that it might be too limber were quickly allayed on my first trout fishing trip with it. This is a serious fishing tool at a very reasonable price, and I would recommend it to anyone on a limited budget seeking an excellent quality flyrod."

Great Rod,March 9, 2008
By wavesliderfrom Los Angeles, CA
"I bought the 6wt version originally for my GF who was just starting out and for a backup rob for me. I finally had a chance to fish with it and I am so impressed with the action, the sensitivity and castability. After about 10 mins of casting around with it I was casting about 90' with it and I don't think I have another rod that I could do that with and they are all "name brand" rods. I strung the 6wt rod with 7wt SA floating line and a few sinking tips lines and she has a rod that I think will last a lifetime.
I recently bought a 2wt rod of the same model just because I like it so much."
